Audiophile Death Match

they all sounded the same to my ears

I could not say for sure over my computer. But it was as if someone was turning the volume down over each choice. Don't get you panties in a bunch that's my my opinion.

Listen to how softer the clarinet is with the coat hanger wire starting at 6:08 compared to the Mogami starting at 4:50

first one sounded midrangey, second had best balance to my ears, last one tipped up. All through my computer speakers.

I initially thought the same thing, but that is a typical thing that happens when you hear something repeatedly.

Go back and click between identical parts of the song and you will see it is the same.

Its a little difficult with the clicking, but you can open more than one window with different parts of the Youtube playing at the same time. if you want. It is the same volume.

I listened with my Fostex PM-2 active nearfield speakers, not the one inch jobs in a laptop.

they still sound the same to me Jack

For all we know, they might all be the same and I'm just showing my Mogami fetish :D

News Flash! Steve Williams can't hear the difference between expensive interconnects and a coat hanger!!

Seriously, all three cuts sound seriously distorted on my computer speakers and don't come close to how the Sonny Rollins cut I previously posted on WBF that came from my R2R sounds over the same computer speakers.

did you Mark? Or is that another news flash for the rest of us

Who cares how those cables sound hooked up to that player? Anyone here have those cables or player? Conduct your own experiments. That test has no real world value unless you happen to own the same gear. If you do have that eq then decide for yourself.

I used that analogy to describe the different levels of perceived resolution. Next I want o listen to the random files.

That was a joke Steve. Like I said, they all three sounded so distorted on my speakers, they all sounded like crap. So no, due to how bad they all sounded on my computer over my computer speakers, I couldn't tell the difference either so I should put my name in lights next to yours. Again, it was a joke. And no, I'm not going to burn a copy of the compressed youtube audio and take it downstairs to my he-man rig.

Even with my crappy computer speakers and knowing I shot this video with a Sony 7.2 megapixel camera, this sounds much better to me:

Of course there is some bias there...

1st one- very detailed and open sounding.

2nd one- a little softer, soundstage somewhat constricted.

3rd one- smeary, even softer, less rez, pinched sounding.

Listening on my Santa Cruz system through youtube, 1 sounded slightly brighter? I could not tell the difference between 2 and 3, but preferred 2 and 3 over 1.

Now I have to get a crate of hangers, terminate them put some cool looking shrink on them and charge $500 a pair. It's all in the marketing, boys!

All three sounded different , the first was the best to me the Mogami and the coat hanger was close, but Alas , the coat hanger had the edge , the mogami had tonal issues and for the record , all 3 sounded better than MEP's recoding ....

:)
