Audio Console Student Design Project

Hello all,
I am an Industrial Design student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. For my senior capstone project I am designing a side table for turntable and vinyl record storage. I am attempting to gauge what equipment and accessories I should accommodate in my design. I have created a short survey in order to do so. It is unclear to me what the brand of gear I use has to do with designing a piece of furniture but as soon as I saw the bulk of the questions were geared towards that I closed the survey.
