Anyone try a DS Audio cartridge on a 12" VPI Fatboy yet?

I really like at least the idea of the DS Audio carts and wonder how things would go if I went the DS Audio route, either with one of their mid-range EQs or with the EMM DS-EQ1.

I suggest the DS-W3 cartridge and EMM DS-EQ1. If you want to spend less then consider the DS-003 cartridge and Meitner DS-EQ2, a lower cost implementation of the DS-EQ1.

I’ve heard a DS cart (I think it was the 003) on a Fatboy coupled with a VPI Avenger. Sounded quite good.

The DS-EQ1 is a great option, and just under half the price the DS-EQ2 is a gosh dang bargain. Please let me know how we can help you audition one in your system.

This is the very combo I will most likely buy after I return from the SWAF! The EMM (Meitner) DS-EQ2 and the DS-003 cartridge. I am just hoping to be able to hear them first!

It sounds quite good, but it is also distinctly… different than a regular cartridge.

I don't know how to describe it except it sounds more "digital" in some way - and by that I mean leading transients are a bit harsher but the background is also a bit quieter.

I can honestly see people preferring one technology or the other just based upon personal preference.

Not like that's true anywhere else in high-end audio.

I'm hoping that any "bit harsher leading transients" may be ameliorated somewhat by cartridge alignment adjustments. Fortunately, I have other phono cartridges and preamps and this will be a new added, not exclusive experience.
