I think if you are purchasing only the headphones you should be okay. I have a pair of 400 series that are almost 20 yrs old. The issue is getting a Stax amplifier from Japan. If audiophilia nervosa permits the use of a 120v to 100v step down on your amp then it would be okay too.
i would probably go to an off brand amplifier/e/nergizer. there a modest saving on a new pair on ebay. I find true bargains to be rare. Everybody is smart. I am just not sure it's worth the hassle. You pay for what you get.
I use Stax for both of my 2 setups.
For my analog setup (all solid state) I use a solid state Stax energizer, for my digital setup I use a Stax tube energizer.
Unless you live in Japan a voltage change will be required for those that live somewhere other than Japan.
I purchased both of my Stax headphone setups new in Switzerland.
Stax warranty is waived if you use their headphones (earspeakers!) with a third-party amp (energizer!). They claim to be able to tell.
If you buy products new and from an official dealer, I can't see why the warranty would be waived just because they're in a different country. It would be quite a problem for people who move abroad if that was the case.
I'm in Switzerland (too) and regularly buy from dealers in other countries for better prices and availability, or because the products are not distributed in Switzerland. I did buy my SR-009s from an officiel Swiss dealer, however.

I've never considered using my Stax headphones with a non-Stax brand of energizer. It would make sense then if a non-Stax energizer is used that it would potentially void the Stax warranty. I bought my Stax headphones in 2010 and I've had no issues whatsoever with either setup.

I was replying to the OP, who said he was worried about a void warranty and also that he was looking to use a third-party energizer. But I now realize that this thread is in fact over one year old, and has been artificially ‘revived’ by a one-word comment from another user.
Many people consider Stax's own energizers not good enough and turn to other models like the Blue Hawaii or the Mjolnir. In my opinion the SRM-T8000 is excellent, but I agree that the other models in the Stax range are no match for their flagship earspeakers.
As far as I know Stax is the only company with such a policy. It's understandable, but a bit extreme. I know of at least one reputable reseller in Switzerland who has decided to stop promoting their products in their shop for that reason.
