Amanda Knox was acquitted in an Italian court, but now a higher court has overturned the acquittal. A new trial has been ordered. She says she is willing go through it all over again for some stupid reason.

It begs some questions...

Do the Italians just keep trying people until they get the result they want? Does the fact that a guy already confessed to the crime count for anything? We know the girl used poor judgement in the past, but is she an idiot? Will the US Government speak up in her behalf? What are the ramifications of the US double jeopardy rule when it comes to extradition? What gives?

That's one of the things that makes america great. Fair and balanced justice (at least the bulk of the time). Moral of the story ? Don't get in trouble in a foreign country.

My money is that any extradiction will be refused (been refused quite a few times when UK has put forward requests), but to my mind this case is fubar and the anomalies from the Italian prosecution and police is terrible.
Sadly though the prosecution holes seem to have been ignored by general public here in Europe (just read some posts on UK news sites), the Italian law and prosecution seriously f'd this case up; starting with giving a plea bargain to the only one actually found guilty (Rudy Guede) who then just had to point fingers at others, resulting in pressure of getting results based upon his testimony and some of the crud the police leaked to show the plea bargain and leaks were not a screw up.

Cheers
