Hi. I just made an order for this preamp https://space-tech-lab.com/Tube_Pre-Amps/ASP series/ASP-10001-ES.php and it uses 2 6SL7 and 2 6SN7 tubes. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a good combo of these tubs to replace what comes with the preamp. Also, Ray tubes are new to me, anyone have an experience with them ?
My favorites are the older (and still available) Sylvania 1940's 6SN7 (VT-231) and 6SL7 (VT-229). For rectifiers it would have to be RCA 5U4G (VT-244).
Opinions will be all over the map, so it is always down to personal preferences and how a tube sounds in that preamp. Sampling different tubes and figuring out what you like is part of the fun (to me).
I have a Myst'ere CA 21 Line preamp, my best 6SN7 tubes are Psvane CV 181 mark 2 These made a huge improvement to my ears. Then I tried a set of Linlai Global elite E-6SN7's what a disappointment, after there recommended burn in time, I thought my Tweeters became disconnected. I put the Psvanes back in and now they work again.. Give them a try. Cheers.
