Somebody who knows what they're talking about (I don't), please check my math. According to the B3 manual, suitable rectifiers for rolling:
"5Y3, 5R4, 5C3S, GZ34, GZ37, 274B, and all other rectifiers which have: 5V heaters, Anodes on pins 4 and 6, heaters and cathode on pins 2 and 8, and 2 to 3A heater current."
The 5AR4 tube is the equivalent of the GZ34 (UK name) on the above list. I've previously used a Mullard GZ34/5AR4 tube with good results on my B4. I don't know if the Sovtek tube obeys all the parameters cited above,, but should be easy for someone to confirm.
Yeah, also the Russian 5AR4s often fail in a way that may damage your gear. NOS 5AR4s are pricey these days but worth it.
Also, all the rectifier alternatives will probably have different sag and voltage drop, so they will all sound a little different and some may have better results with whatever output tubes you choose as well.
