Hello everyone!

I have a room that I currently use as a music room (I play hand drums), but also as an office and for other leisure activities. It's about 4x4 m in size, but has two sloping ceilings running the entire length, reaching a height of 1.90 m on one side and 1.20 m on the other. The roof/ceiling surfaces are paneled, the walls are plastered, and the floor is laminate.

There's no furniture yet, except for a fairly substantial desk. I've planned to put Ikea Kallax on the higher long wall to store my sheet music and books, small instruments, maybe a few folders, office supplies, etc. My drums (3 congas) are also in there.

Now I'd like to install a music system in there so that I can, firstly, practice/play along to music and, secondly, simply listen to music. My main genres are Latin American music (salsa, son, etc.) and hard rock/metal. It's okay if it gets a little louder now and then (single-family home). I do like having a decent sound, but I wouldn't call myself an audiophile.

However, I still have no idea what to buy. What's worth it given the room dimensions, what makes sense? First, regarding speakers – 2.0? 2.1? Passive speakers and amplifiers? A complete active system? Where/how do I best set them up?

But also: How do I get the music on there? I do have CDs that I might store in the room, but I don't want to be messing around with them all the time. The main source for "my" music is MP3s on my Synology NAS. If I spontaneously want to listen to something that I don't have in my collection, I look for it on YouTube. I don't have streaming, but it should be possible to play something like that. And of course, it would be good to be able to connect to the system via Bluetooth.

I'm a Windows person with an open source leaning. I'm not completely untalented when it comes to DIY and technology (I work in IT), but I have little knowledge of hi-fi and sound engineering. I can certainly invest a couple of evenings into it, but I don't want it to degenerate into a 100-hour DIY project. My desired cost for the system would be around €300, with a pain threshold of €500. However I'm not 100% committed to this budget yet, si if i learn more my vision might evolve...

And I have a collection of old speakers from music systems that could be used (but don't have to be):
2x Jamo K-25
2x Sony SS-J20
2x Philips F9218L/50Z
1x AIWA SX-NAVH80

Thanks for your thoughts, suggestions, spontaneous ideas, etc. I'm also happy to answer any further questions about the room, the existing technology, my requirements, etc.

Best regards
