Triode Corporation Ltd. Junone Reference M212 Amplifier

Has anyone auditioned the Triode Corporation Ltd. Junone Reference M212 amplifier? It is a parallel SET amplifier using 845 tubes to drive 212E output tubes. It is not listed on their website.

If you wonder what Ron is on about they popped up at CES2015 and there is very little info available anywhere.

I'd like a pair for no other reason than they look &*£^ing cool, and I always fancied the idea of a 212 amp.

Caveats will be heat output and the fact they use the Psvane 212. So not much tube rolling fun to be had, unless you spend years trying to track down or collect and quad of Amperex or WE 212. When I used to look, WE and Amperex 212s did use to pop up on ebay. I have seen a few STC 4212Es available too.

Whilst Psvane make some quite good valves these days, I wouldn't want to assert the WE or Amperex options weren't considerably better and that thought would always be in my mind.

I was in their room at High End 2017...
If I remember correctly those big amp's were playing.
It sounded to bright for my taste... and the mid's were to much compared to the mid-bass. But their rhytmic drive was good.
But the guys were mega friendly-

There were a few on Audio Shark who owned Triode Corp. Think Joeinid and Mike had them as well. One user who had both them and Airtight said the Triode Corp was much better though more expensive as well.

No it was another amp at Munich not the 212s.

They could be Japan only but if that is the case why show them at CES?

I think the house Psvane sound is quite bright, dynamic and a bit etchy generally. That is a sweeping generalisation, though. And possibly a bit unfair, therefore. It is just the vibe I have got from listening to their 211s, 101D, 2A3 etc.

Ok the it probaly was one of their TRX-M845 amps. I just remember it beeing silver and having big tubes.

I've owned Tri 845SE, a 100lb 845 SET integrated.

Slow, non dynamic, romantic sound. Can't say their rooms at shows sound any different. Didn't matter the tubes we rolled.

Indeed Ron. Who cares what they actually sound like (wink)?

The 845 is a big valve, in this case feeding the 212s, but it looks tiny by comparison in the video, which gives an idea how truly huge a 212 is.

It is interesting how there are different ways to get the same SET power level! I wonder what sounds better in a parallel SET: two 212s (Triode Corp. Reference M212) or four 845s (MastersounD PF100)?

One important factor is the tube itself. The 212 is an obscure tube and the 845 is a proven contender with multiple rolling options and stability. I am a Triode dealer as well, so this doesn't come as choosing one over the other and is merely something that would sway most to stick with the 845.

I have heard them a couple of times at shows. My impressions were they among the best sounds at show.

Here's a nice amp Ron using KR valves. I liked this system quite a bit. Engstrom Eric. Bit low on power at 70 Watts but it did sound very good. Spacious, clear, and very coherent in room.
