I haven't heard the Wireworld but have owned a Totaldac for about 6 months or so. Initially from brand new it was unpleasant and I came close to returning it. After a week or so the bad elements disappeared. It's quite a subtle cable, almost a little 'dark'-sounding but generally very...
Well I did actually audition a standard Tellus first and to be honest I found that a big improvement over the S Minimus. I rather stupidly went Silver Tellus without actually hearing one and I'm still not 100% convinced it was financially the best move, but I'm still very happy with it of...
I get where you're coming from Fiddle Faddle and I'm in a not-dissimilar position financially, though I did end up splurging way too much on a Silver Tellus etc., effectively more than my annual spend on hi-fi.
This stuff needs a lot of experimentation and is very time-consuming in that regard...
The current models were released around August/September 2013. It's unlikely there's a replacement due within 2015 I'd have thought, particularly as they've been pretty much consumed with Phantom/Dialog/Spark development. Original D-Premier was launched in 2010, not sure when in that year though.
The conundrum is - if two cables are the same price, one is sourced in China and clearly cheap to source but has some modifications made to it by the manufacturer and they openly disclose that this is the case. The other is 100% made by the manufacturer with no bought-in components. If the...
I have a bog-standard CleanUs on my Silver Tellus. It's intriguing. You can't just plug in and notice an immediate difference. Like all grounding products it takes a while to start working well, but it is also very subtle. I noticed it more when I remove it, it just didn't seem right without it...
True! This is something we don't see with more traditional hi-fi companies as the pace of change has been pretty slow over the years. It's only really certain areas, digital streaming mainly, but also improvements in things like Class D, which are driving change. Devialet are very innovative and...
I think the pricing problem started when they brought out the 110/170/240. The 170 was half the price of the 240 yet barely worse. To me with my speakers they sounded identical. I feel the improvement many hear with the 240 might be due to the extra power needed to drive their speakers...
And is the equipment at either end perfectly calibrated to operate optimally with a "perfect" 110 Ohm cable or are there significant margins of error there too?
Oh you talked me into it!

It still says version 6.0 but the model numbers are updated. As I say my 170/200 didn't recognise the config file generated from this so use at your peril!
Just taken delivery of a Reference XL (admittedly an S/PDIF but I've heard the AES too). I've tested the Reference on my system too and the XL is way better. The Reference has some qualities of the XL, but the XL is almost perfect in every way.
I've got myself in knots here and I think it's probably best if I don't post the link because I'm still having issues with the new configurator (my ex-170, now-200 didn't recognise the config file). I think it's probably best to wait until Devialet confirm the configurator is OK and works with...
Ok, I think there might be some issues if you use a config file generated from the 6.0 configurator. Despite showing 200W on the status display it didn't actually sound any different to me. Also the mute button stopped working! Reverted to factory config - well, I just removed the SD card -...
Updated to the beta firmware. I have a question - the configurator has the original hard-coded limits in for power (170W in my case) so I'm not able to increase it to 200W. Is it really now 200W despite showing 170W in the configurator? That would be deeply confusing. Is there a beta...
I've found LED bulbs and dimmable CFLs are bad in particular for noise. I use balanced PSUs and I get random short bursts of hum through the day from the transformers.
My street is quite densely packed with houses and people, and there's a fair bit of light industry too. I don't find my hifi...
Has anyone compared the Minimus directly against a Tellus? And the silver versions of each? I have just a Moon MiND streamer and Devialet 170 and am wondering if it's worth the outlay for the Tellus bearing in mind I'd only be using one binding post? I guess I do get the option to attach the...
I agrre Amir. While it's good that Raidho are covering repair/upgrade (whatever you like to call it) and one way shipping, I really feel they just go the whole hog and deal with the situation end-to-end. Also would it not expedite things if local dealers (even if just one dealer per region...
caesar - I think you were right to bring up this subject (I wasn't aware of it but thankfully it doesn't affect my speakers), but to compare a problem with some Raidho speakers having an issue playing music over 90dB and Raidho's subsequent reaction to it (which most owners affected appear to be...
I *think* the Reference is the current version. It's a browny-brick red in colour. I'm told it's had enough running but I'm pretty sure it's the version that was released in January (?) or so.
Oh - would love to hear if anyone else is using the Lessloss AES cable as I want to know if it...
I'm testing 3 AES/EBU cables at the moment with a Moon MiND 180D into a Devialet 170 with Raidho C-1.1 speakers.
Theser are my impressions:
Transparent Reference 1m: Wonderful depth (as well as soundstage - it's a true 3D cable) and conveys acoustic instruments such as piano, acoustic guitar...
