Why does my TV sound more real?

I have often noticed the same thing you are speaking of (in several ways). The sound of a song on a TV program or a movie you are watching will often sound more engaging with the TV sound or movie sound. This observation is often noticed, even with a modest home theatre set up, when watching a...

Is Your Loudspeaker Perfect For You?

The perfect speakers for me, and for many others given the opportunity to truly hear them, are speakers from the Vivid Audio Giya series. Having lived with many fine speakers over the years, nothing has brought me the sheer joy I am receiving from the Vivid's. They satisfy the heart and the...

    Whither Audio Research

I just saw your post from much earlier this year. Do you happen to have the Makua preamp with your Kaluga amplifiers? If not the Makua really makes them sing!

    Smearing

I completely agree with NekoAudio on this. I view smearing as a time and phase domain issue (which involves cabinet diffraction as well). Without proper time and phase correctness the leading edge of a dynamic (any sound) is blurred, smeared, or rounded off. Without properly intact leading...

Looking for a new CD-player, Aesthetix, Esoteric, Lux or….

The best one-box CD player I have ever heard is the Audionet Planck. I've heard it outperform a number of very expensive DACs. It's really good!

    !!!AHA!!!

Well said Jim! Music programs in schools have suffered for a number of years now. There's so much evidence to substantiate that there's no substitute for music, whether playing an instrument or listening deeply, when it comes to the cognitive health of mankind. Plus, there's nothing that stirs...

BEST SPEAKERS BETWEEN 15k and 30K

In our experience the Vivid Audio speakers are quite easy to place. Whether close to the sidewalls or at a distance the bass performance remains quite consistent. The frequency at which the side-firing woofers crossover may be a factor.

BEST SPEAKERS BETWEEN 15k and 30K

If you have been wanting to hear Vivid Audio speakers at a trade show, we will be at the Capital Audiofest (Nov. 10-12) with a pair. In room 715 we will have the smallest model in Vivid Audio's flagship Giya line - the Giya G4s2. They will be driven by a Mola Mola Makua preamp w/built-in DAC...

The Rise of the Uber-High End Integrated Amp

The best on-board phono stage in an integrated amp is without question the Mola Mola Kula integrated. The optional phono stage for the Kula has the same exact circuit as the stand-alone Lupe phono stage from Mola Mola. Neutral, dynamic, 3-D and plenty of gain. Really good!

The Rise of the Uber-High End Integrated Amp

The emergence of ultra high-end integrated amps were largely due to customer desires. If a particular system justifies the best in amplification (preamp and amp) but space is an issue or budget allotment is a concern, the high-end integrated amp can be the perfect solution. The best integrated...

Which turntable do you prefer and why?

I don't know if you've had the opportunity to hear a Kronos turntable yet, if not it should be at the top of your list. What the counter-rotating secondary platter concept does to extract more information and beauty out of the grooves can't be underestimated. This, along with the other...

    Best $50K speakers , Wilson Sasha V vs Magico S3 Mk3?

The best speaker I've heard around the $50K mark is the Vivid Audio Giya G2s2 ($55K). Very neutral both on and off axis with the most three-dimensional soundstage I've ever experienced. The best recovery of ambience (sound of the recorded venue) you'll ever hear and the largest soundstage (when...

Are B&W and Focal "low end " around here ?

B&W is certainly one of the most popular speakers in audio. The reason they don't get mentioned is that many audiophiles find them lacking in some of the next level attributes of transparency and detail. A number of folks have said the next tier up from B&W are the Vivid Audio loudspeakers...

What turntables do you use? Pictures would be nice as well :-)

Incredible sound from the Audionet Heisenbergs.

The thing that impresses me so much with the Heisenberg/Stern combination is its ability to illuminate the inner detail in a recording without unnaturally highlighting (or peaking) any group of frequencies. I even hear this with speakers I am less familiar with. It's a magically beautiful quality.

    KeithR's "Dream Speaker" Search

You should really take the opportunity to hear a pair of Vivid Audio Giya G1 Spirit speakers properly set-up with really good electronics. So dynamically alive, so involving, so transparent, with perfect neutrality to boot!

Downsizing from dCS Vivaldi Stack? Is this dumb?

Bill and I (Dick) do certainly have a vested interest, but after hearing a lot of digital product over the years, the Tambaqui is what I refer to as a gift to the audio business. It's that good! And for a price that is a great deal lower than its performance would indicate. Thank you for your...

Which Speakers for Dartzeel NHB-108B and NHB-18NS Combo?

Downsizing from dCS Vivaldi Stack? Is this dumb?

If downsizing from the big Vivaldi rig, let me suggest something you might find unusual, because the price is far, far below that of the Vivaldi stack. The Mola Mola Tambaqui. At only $13,500 USD the price may seem illogical, but the performance is not. Truly one of the best DACs out there.

    Better linestages for Audionet Heisenberg

The Audionet Stern preamp is still the best preamp on the Heisenberg amplifiers (and others). It's the most transparent and most dynamic preamp we've ever experienced and is a synergistic combo with Audionet amplifiers.
