Shocking news

I feel the same as we age we ignore how old we are . Things like this wakes me up on what am I doing now that is not just for enjoyment

What is so shocking? He probably took steroids half his life and who knows how many other substances, so 71 is quite an accomplishment.

On a side note, I never understood the fascination with professional wrestling. It’s all fake! What is the appeal?

The records show that by his own admission he took steroids. To make other allegations as you have is speculative and IMHO totally uncalled for. I''ve learned that there is good in all persons and to kick mud over his freshly dug grave IMO is really unnecessary. If one has nothing good to say, why say anything at all. By all accounts he was a very kind hearted man who loved interacting with his fans especially young kids.

Movies are mostly fake too, no?

Taking it one step further who remembers Jesse "The Body" Ventura who was a professional wrestler who became the Governor of Minnesota and before that was a Navy Seal and a professional actor

Im not a fan of wrestling but if you look at this man history will remember him as one of the best

and he was an actor as well (apart from wrestling). 1982

To call with a broad brush this type of wrestling is fake is soo not true.
the outcome maybe set up but the bodies being abused for the sake of entertainment is beyond what most do in any sport
What drugs they do is a side note but has nothing to do with it’s obvious effects on the body of the performers

I just think that crapping on someone's grave before the dirt is dry is most unkind and totally uncalled for....but that's just me. Whenever I saw him he was entertaining and very kind and like all actors he played to his crowd and was loved by all

I met him once back then he and most did not give autographs
it did not make me feel different of him
many years back I would take my two sons to matches at Madison square garden
bad weather was perfect for me as the event was low in attendance
would get ring side seats
many performers are dead now but man the electric in the air was amazing
sad to read he is gone as I said we all will be gone but when this happens it’s a shock to reality

who’s crapping on who here? Calm the f down.

Back in the 70's there was a big wrestling scene on Australian TV that many watched. Yes there was some level of theatre and showmanship, but you could see that people got seriously hurt.

Years later when I frequented a take away pizza restaurant that was being run by one of the retired wrestling big names, Mario Milano. He had massive scars all over him, particularly on his forehead.

I had a good laugh when I found out I had been banned for 3 days for the above (deleted) comments. But let me explain my comments…

- as a “fake sport” professional wrestling is not, to my knowledge, regulated

- as a result, participants are not tested prior to “competing” and there is no one preventing them from experiencing serious physical damage in the practice of this activity.

- professional wrestling is not about “skills”, it’s all about entertainment, and as a result practitioners will do anything to “please the crowd”

It’s no secret that Hogan took steroids. It’s no secret either that he went through multiple surgeries, got addicted to a variety of pain killers, and had drinking issues as well.

Next time you turn on your TV to watch pro-wrestling, think about what these people endure for your entertainment! There’s a good movie about all this, by the way: The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke.

I’m not “crapping” on Hogan’s legacy - if anything, I feel sorry for the guy.

I am surprised that someone with a medical background would fail to understand all this.

Real combat sports - boxing, MMA… - are not perfectly regulated either, and accidents do happen, but they are fairly rare nowadays. Competitors are regularly tested, and while there are exceptions, they don’t generally turn to performance enhancement drugs that pose serious health hazards… The referee in the ring is there for a purpose, not just for props as in pro wrestling - people nowadays constantly complain about early stoppages, but they are there to preserve the health of competitors.

Jazz listeners wouldn’t understand.
I'm going to call Imai Son and tell him about that crap music that you listen to on that wonderful system of yours.

Some people love China Town, some people love Hulkamania. God Bless America.
