    Muralman1

I've done some searching here and haven't seen anything about Vince, so I'll update. If this is a dupe, sorry. Unknown to me, Vince had been battling ALS, and passed on May 30th. He and I had actually met a few times at his home and spent quite a few hours listening to his system. The past...

    Planer/Dipole speakers: FAQ

I agree with this. Having owned Apogees for 6 years I can assure you that the front wall is VERY important. Small changes in speaker position, 1/4", can make or break the soundstage, as can listening position. When I got the position "right" (per the Golden Ratio) albums would go from very...

    Recent Concerts You've Enjoyed

Big Brother and the Holding Co. Because my wife does most of the "behind the scenes" work on their website, we go to any concerts that are local enough for us to drive to, gratis. Next up is Trio of a Perfect Pair in S.F. :D

Terra Nova-New Fox Series From Steven Spielberg

I was thinking the same thing. Spielberg is just "going with what he knows". Could be bad. I think I'm hoping for a Lost feeling of WTF.

Terra Nova-New Fox Series From Steven Spielberg

Watched. it. It was OK, but far too many rehashed themes. I'll probably watch it and see if the storyline improves.

    Duetta Re-Due

She might be warming up to the Paduk. Last night she said "When are you going to build the CD rack you were talking about? I like that red wood you used." Then I told her how much a board foot it costs................ :O

Is your local high-end store still able to survive in this economy?

I haven't seen a B&M for nearly 25 years. The scourge known as "Home Theater" (IE: Bose 321 systems) wiped them out.

    Duetta Re-Due

lolz, agreed, but she suggested the black, so she can't bitch................much. :P Plus the new 10" drivers will look much better than the 20 yo ratty driver I'm using right now. BTW the cabinets were designed for the new drivers, the old ones just happened to work in a 2.6 cf enclosure.

    Duetta Re-Due

Here is what the almost finished speakers look like: A bit fuzzy but you get the idea. Close up: My wife dosen't like the red color of the Paduk, so I'll be painting that part black. I'm also going to use a different driver, a Peerless SLS woofer.

    Duetta Re-Due

*update* I've got the Paduk NOT Ipe, (my bad), panels with ribbons installed on the "subs". The sound is very good. Some of the differences from the original Duettas: The positioning is nowhere near as a PITA as before. However the distance from the wall behind the speakers is still very...

    Wood Finishes on DIY projects

I'm a firm believer in the wipe-on poly. Easy to apply, and the results are very close to a "pro" finish. Here is a project I made for my wife 2 years ago (christmas present/don't mind the dust :P): After 2 years of my wife and daughter using it as a dining table (they eat at it...
