    Mine are extremely quiet. Using with Horning (99db) and Zingali (98db) speakers. Your Altec's are a bit more sensitive, but I have not had an issue with background noise. Dead quiet. Using Air tight ATE 2001 pre.

    Yes, I always bias my amps. It is quite easy on the ATM 211. I generally consider proper burn in time for 211 tubes at about 100 hrs.

    I to own the Air Tight 211 monoblocks. I was running the Elrog 242's, which I really liked. Upgraded to NOS RCA's, and finally scored NOS Amperex.Amperex has been the best in my system.     Should sound wonderful. I use my 300B for a small set of Air Tight Monitors, and the 211 monoblocks for a set of ESL 57's, totally and beautifully restored by Quads unlimited. Interested how your Tannoy's will sound. I may head that way as well.

    I recently purchased a pair of Air Tight ATM 211 monoblocks on Audiogon for 6700.00 I had been looking for years. They do not come up often in the used market in the USA. Well worth the wait. And quite a deal.
