=> Very clean recording with clear reeds and beautiful bass* (tight and present),
and a sumptuous accordion. The guitar is splendid and fluid.

* Charlie Haden plays the bass on one of the tracks.
And William Galison plays the harmonica on another one.

The Molly MaGuires soundtrack,it is the new limited edition out on CD. They did a beautiful job on the sound, one of my favorites by Henry Mancini.

I want to talk about a couple of things. Last night I listened to my Quiex 200 gram pressing of the Who “Live at Leeds.” I have listened to this LP since I was knee-high to a gigantic grasshopper. This LP has 3 strikes against it:

1. It’s an old rock recording
2. It’s a live recording
3. It was recorded at an open air concert

Somehow, this recording is pretty damn good in spite of the obstacles. Someone knew what the hell they were doing when they recorded this tape. I have always enjoyed this recording back to the first time I ever heard it. And that would have been from a Garrard turntable with a Grado cartridge, a small Lafayette integrated amp into a pair of Lafayette Criterion bookshelf speakers.

This LP is very quiet and if your system noise floor is very low, you can definitely tell the difference between the noise floor of your system and the noise floor of the recording. You can hear the amps humming on stage between the songs and then it fades into total silence between the tracks. Keith Moon’s drums are captured very well and they sound live. Roger Daltrey’s vocals sound damn good. I had a big grin on my face listening to this last night.

Speaking of last night, Santa Claus dropped off three new tapes on my door yesterday and I will be listening to them tonight.

Schumann
The Symphonies
Wiener Philharmoniker
Leonard Bernstein

Nice stuff. Also, i don't think that I've seen so many postive reviews of a cd as this gets on amazon.com, if that is meaningful.
