Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Good news. Can I ask what is the current delivery time for a switch and network card?

About 3 weeks for chrome, 4-6 for black, unless the new finishing company delivers which would turn black into 3 aswell, and facilitate the silver anodised finish.

Ours (Extreme + Switch) should ship any day now in beautiful black. Can’t wait!

Emile, I heard Zaphod Beeblebrox was looking for a new mfg for sub-etha sens-o-matics**. Maybe you can help him out?

**For those who are unaware “The Sub-Etha Sens-O-Matic is a device that alerts hitchhikers to passing spacecraft, by monitoring ships' Sub-Etha signals.”

Nothing new, just roughly quadruples our machining capacity and reduces office hours. It can machine 24 switches at a time for example, and run 24/7 unattended.
Do you use any audiophile isolation footer for better machining?;)

I keep going back to this photo. This looks so neat and cool.
I am starting to regret that I ordered a chrome switch (with my black Extreme), but there was no way I would wait so long for the black.
Keep thinking that it may not be too late to sell the chrome and buy a black switch... and change my router / DCD order to black.
Anyone interested in a chrome switch? Send me a PM if you are.
Vassil I think the chrome will work beautifully with the black. More dimensional...

It's all about the sound.Looks give me a fuzzy feeling whereas the sonic attributes of the switch light up my ears

Do you have a shorter version too?? Have you compared the two?

@Taiko Audio one question about the Distributor- is it a passive or an active device?

I know I’m late to the party here as I was one of those black switch guys, so I only recently installed my switch and NIC. I think enough has been said, but holy smoke, I wasn’t prepared for the uptick in sound - pretty much everything sounds better! The NIC was the real surprise, maybe because I was already using a SOTM switch so I had some switch gains, but the improvement from the NIC alone felt like a component upgrade! Together the two just make beautiful music :)

From comments made, being about 5 days in, there might be a little more to burn in but regardless, once again, I’m extremely happy to be on the Taiko train.

Emile (or others),

I have a router and DC distributor on order so very much looking forward to putting them in my system soon!

One question I have is that I will have about 3.5 meters between my switch and router. I can put the distributor in the center if that’s the best but would then need 2 x 2m DC to DC cables in this case. The other option is to put it next to the router or the switch. Then I would probably need a 1m and 4m cable.

So my questions would be, do the cable lengths matter heading into the DC distributor? If so, is one of the options above more desirable (for example, the short one going to the switch / long one to the router)? Lastly, I understand that they will be shipped with 2 x 1M cables so are there any brands out there that people in this community recommend for longer DC to DC cables?

That will be fine, the longer the length of the DC cable the more of it’s “sonic signature” it may impart and longer or shorter runs of the same cable may even sound somewhat different, but technically there is no problem with using different lengths. And you can choose a different filter combination to compensate…
