I have no clue what is happening (perhaps my cache was too large and impacting performance? omg no idea). But, I am headed back to listen and re-reconfirm what I am hearing.

The most variable aspect of the system is the human being sitting in the listening chair. :)

2 presses on front switch shuts Extreme down, one press restarts it.

Switch on rear turns it completely off

Click the front button twice. 1 click just turns off the video (I think).

Or, you can restart from the app.
That’s correct. One short tap and then a second the first turns off video

Having said that mine hasn’t been turned off and on in well over 6 months if not longer

To me, this is the most overlooked variable -- that is, one's metal state, and ability to give attention to the music with a fresh and un-cluttered mind.

This could be a great subject for a thread.

DAC question: When one puts in a different DAC after the Extreme and using TAS, is it usually plug and play or does some fiddling have to take place?

The buffers need to be set for the DAC

You may need to reboot the Extreme since the USB may not handshake.

this is a problem that i know will go away with xdms, but is annoying.
even after a re-scan, i'm not able to see (in TAS) all of my music.
for example, only 5 of the 9 Beethoven symphonies by Savall show up in the music folder
selection, yet i can see that all 9 are on the drive.

any suggestions?
i guess i could delete the current one and do a complete re-scan (versus an incremental one)............

Nice, I’ve been thinking about how to best rip my CDs at a high bitrate…
This method is pretty straightforward. I use a cheap Pioneer player I bought on EBay. I’ve ripped over 100 SACD’s to DSD 64 with it.

I started out ripping SACDs with an early Playstation 3 that hadn't had its firmware updated past the point where Sony had disabled the ripping crack. Those Playstations are very hard to find now and most are unreliable due to heat issues in the early versions.

When the thread referenced above appeared on AudiophileStyle I dusted off my OPPO player and have been using it ever since. Works great once the appropriate files are loaded onto a properly formated USB thumb drive.

TAS (LMS) scanning struggles with special characters in the Folder name. Removing or changing these special characters fixes the problem sometimes

XDMS has been deigned to disgest special chracters, and foreing language character sets

Hi Rocco,
this is currently a general Roon problem, not related to Taiko / SGM.
Roon on my Extreme is working just fine, while Roon on a friend's Non-Taiko Server is exhibiting the same problem you are describing.

There is a thread on the roon forum called "search in roon stopped working", you might want to check progress there.

Christoph
Thanks Christoph, In fact, I created that post in Roon Forum but there isnt much help so I tried my luck here. Now that Roon acknowledged there is a software problem and they are investigating it. Hope it will get fixed soon.

Hi Rocco,
oh that was you, didn't realize that. Fingers crossed that Roon finds the culprit.

Not sure it helps in your case, but I noticed that if I browse into a certain folder from within the "Music Folder" menu of the TAS app, then I can see that same content also in the other context views (e.g. Albums, etc.). Not the most elegant solution, but it worked for me ...

By the way it would be a pity not to be able to access all the 9 symphonies from Savall, they are great and sound fantastic ;-)

While playing DSF512 Jazz at the Pawnshop with TAS, very often the music would disappear while the track time counter is still counting. The music would return at the start of the next track and randomly might disappear again. The cycle goes on for the whole album. When switch to Roon, the album play normally. Any suggestions? Thanks

Which model T+A is that ?

After I have read the manual, lets schedule a TeamViewer session into your Laptop PC or Mac

I have had the same problem and have mentioned it here before. I have found a fix in my system. When the blue bar is moving but there is no sound, I can easily correct the problem by pushing the stop button. Then I push the reverse button and then I push play again and it always corrects the problem at my end. I have found that this issue can occur regardless of which format is being played
