Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

THanks, much appreciated.

My preamp is at about 1/2 way so this is perfect. When I was running the Pacific with the 242s it was closer to 20% which I did not like.
Uh ultra valuable info for my case!!! Thanks for this

When changing tubes should the entire unit be shut off or just the power via the remote?

I am also curious what is on if the back switch is on and the remote power is shut off.

A pertinent question but it seems no one has asked as yet:):) so with the new horizon, who is sending back their Pacific's? Or are you keeping the pac as well?

The Psvanes lasted only 4 hours. I rolled in a pair of Tung Sol 6SN7 BGRPs. They are well broken in so I figured, why not?

The few ppl i know havent yet taken that step so it makes me wonder. can we have a roll call to see who on the forum here has traded in the pac for the horizon ? And if there are any regrets on the trade in?
I think most took the credit for the Pacfic towards Horizon

Some might not agree but at first I wasn't sure on the Horizon once I hooked it up .
Even though mine was used at FL show it took some time to really shine , I would guess 2 weeks . Just like Steve the tube upgrade was huge . Again KT-170 took a couple days not best out of box . The TAK 274B and 5687 sounded good right away .

I traded in my Pacific. No regrets. Only 1 of my other system plays digital music and I have an Audio Mirror Tubadour III.

I would tnink get the dac burned some 100 hours then roll to be better assured what changes.
to go by others views alone negates your system/ preferences
just my thoughts

I completely agree. I just didn’t think I would ever stick with the Psvanes so I wanted something I know better to be in place while the DAC burns in. I don’t plan to roll anything else for a month.

That’s my experience today. It wasn’t “oh my god” from the first note and it still isn’t 5 hours later and won’t be for a while. However, I can already hear the sound signature difference between the Horizon and Pacific. The Horizon sound is much more delicate (maybe less HiFi-ish), and I mean that in a good way. Once the sound opens up it will be great.

I really liked the Pacific and would have been fine if the Horizon never came along but my issue with it was the tube rolling resulted in very different sounds. Going from a 242 to a 300B was huge. I found it hard to fine tune the sound. All the changes were pretty big.

I suspect the Horizon can be fine tuned due to all the tube options.
