Who needs crossfit when you can lift, twist and squat with ingots of audiophile weights ;) to keep you young and trim!
and then there is chipping away the ice layer from in front of my barn so i (and others) can unload safely. yesterday did that at 4am in the morning. that is 100% hifi passion right there!

the ultimate tease = picking up (due to snow) the ref dac plus power supplies......but.....drum roll please......no power cord umbilicals. ugh. no party time for mikey. you are expecting a reward after all the heavy lifting.

i think it's a beautiful piece of gear sitting in my room.

rumor is that the power umbilicals are "somewhere" with the server and the optical cord......."to be continued".

The same thing happened to me when I got the Metronome C8+ DAC - the Lemo power supply umbilical was missing. Fortunately next day I found that I could insert another Metronome umbilical just taking out the plug covers!

Hows is the image height on these Micro Precision Z Monitors? Thanks!
I didn't measure them exactly but the tweeters is at the level of the listener's ears. Beside thats, they also have the sub-towers.

Are you kidding? Those are about the ugliest components I've ever seen. They may sound great but I can't imagine anyone liking their appearance.
I agree 100% on the looks. It would be in spite of them that I would be making a purchase (not in the cards just now...).

I think it is fitting that the D'Agostino and Wadax are in the same photo. They both have a certain aesthetic as with much of the ultra high end.

Yeah, I bought the D'Agostino in spite of their looks.... I guess it does grow on you, after awhile. Maybe the Wadax would, too.

my first reaction to pictures of the Wadax Ref dac was also negative. soon thereafter my opinion changed.

in person it's got an organic elegance and presence. every visitor to my room has commented positively. not trying to or needing to convince anyone of anything. making boxes that big look right is not trivial. and they have done it.

YMMV.

I always thought Wadax looks like something that belongs on the bridge of a Klingon battleship. Your futuristic theme listening room with treatment and it's banks of equipment on both sides is the perfect setting for it Mike. Even your speakers and poweramps have that otherworldly look to them. Beam me up Scottie ! :)

Nice design pickup Milan :) Design is always highly personal and genuinely the only ones we need to please are ourselves and then occasionally more influential significant others (a more situation dependent factor)… great that it has worked so well for you Mike.

The Wadax more complex composite form making also makes it a bit more challenging to also integrate with other forms and so the demure simple black or silver box (ala Taiko) plays as the universal little black dress whereas something more distinct like Wadax will always make mix n match in the rack with other gear more challenging and gear dependant… in the end it’s always about does it ultimately work when it all comes together and does its make its owner happy.

I’d read it as mega-machine style of the late 90’s playing a strong design style influence here, but defo at the more Klingon mecha end than the organic biomimicry machines of HR Giger’s Aliens ships… though perhaps options for a not-warp drive for storing files and an optional cloaking facility so significant others are then unaware of its arrival will also be a handy thing.

Yes, I was just pondering how to hide it behind scrim of some sort....

Come on guys. Can't let the Horizon thread steal the wind. Here is a really nice sound from Wadax from my fellow Thai audiophile. Great quality streaming. See if the Horizon can beat this .

Tang I must say it sounds nice the WADAX over you tube.
It sounds a bit undigital.

Did they finally solve the digital puzzle lol .
It surely took a while ( 3O years and 300 thousand US $$$)
