Paul McGowan talks about judging the correct volume level by paying attention to scale. If a vocalist sounds out of scale with the size of a real person, or if for instance a violin sounds like it’s the size of a piano, then your volume is too high!

Clearly this has proved controversial for some. Hey that’s rock and roll. I’m pretty confident in my assertion that every room has a RRV and that once thats set all types of music everytime sounds spot on. My small listening room (versus many in here) SHOULD suffer from compression at hiish volume. It doesn’t. Zero compression zero distortion to my keen ears.

Only Alon ( and his inner circle) knows, but I would bet there will be many exciting things coming from Magico in the future.

Make it a 4 - way by adding a ~9" mid - bass driver on top (similar to the Q7), add the trickle-down goodness from the M9 and you have a ~$300K tweener.

others may not know this re HIFI+ but I think it’s relevant info that may inform

my comments re both Jadis and d’ agostinos phonostage are through bitter experience.
What’s the point if you don’t help others by sharing your actual experience of ‘bad’ hifi saving others the pain. If you only want rave reviews go read a mainstream mag. I thought we were here to share and advise, and not just when we get good positive results/experiences

I have advised the powers that be and they are happy with what I have submitted.
My system is heavily modified to my spec as I’ve already pointed out and I really have no interest in specifying everything

Given the great variability oh different recordings, how can you set the volume at one level for your room?

You set the RRV for the room per your front end and I can assure you everything else will breathe and sound just dandy irrespective

Look. If you want to ignore the quite frankly ridiculous scenario where one magazine puts one manufacturer on its cover around FIVE TIMES in one calendar year and it’s later discovered the editors partner is a Nordost employee then so be it. I’m just informing those who may not be aware of such shenanigans

No specifics from this guy, industry affiliation, system, etc. He won’t disclose his name.

WBF is a community where the majority of people and all the heavy users use their real names, disclose their system details, industry affiliations, etc.

Cableman wants to play by his own rules.
