Michael Lavorgna is preparing a review of the d1-tube (2020 edition) with embedded streamer board option + Totaldac digital cables.
This system will be reviewed for the first time.
This system is compact, not too expensive and gives full digital experience (Roon Ready or UPNP and more).
The review will be released in Twittering Machines web site:

The review is here :
https://twitteringmachines.com/review-totaldac-d1-streamer/

The conclusion is :
" ... If the d1-streamer is within your reach, grab it."

Thank you CKKeung,
This is the review if the d1-streamer, with digital outputs.
Currently Michael Lavorgna is testing a d1-tube DAC equipped with the streamer option, so it is a DAC (with analog output) with the same streaming functionalities. The result is not yet released.

Is this device Roon Core and Endpoint? Or do I need another PC in the house running Roon?

Hello,
The d1-tube DAC with the streamer option is RoonReady, it means it is a Roon end point. It sounds better this way, when the core and the end point are separated.

So, it's an all-in-one box solution, no need to be running Roon separately? I'm looking for one-box solutions, ie Lumin, Limtree, Linn, but none are Roon Endpoint. I just want the simplicity of a single box, no need for Roon having to be run separately, no endless arguments on USB, ABS/EBU etc btwn streamer and dac, need for only a single pwr cord, set of footers etc, basically a one-stop shop option. The fact that TD is revered for having an analog sensibility also appeals greatly.

It is a RoonReady endpoint device, it means that Roon Core is running separately (in a Totaldac d1-player or in a computer for example), and this is the way you get the best sound.

A computer with embedded sound card would be a fully one box solution to run Roon and have analog outputs, but it would not be the best sounding solution.

I'm interested in the D1-Direct with onboard streaming option.
Is there a difference in quality between the all in one D1-Direct+streamer and D1-Direct and separate D1-streamer ?
Thanks.

The separate d1-streamer + d1-direct is even better because it embeds the Totaldac reclocker. It is bigger and more expensive though.

Come for a listening since you are from France (including totaldac speakers and amplifier)!

For those who can't come I will also make high quality recording of my system, using studio recording equipment.

Ok so i guess the streaming board option would be a bottleneck to the d1-direct as opposed to the separate d1-streamer that has the reclocker.

The Totaldac Reclocker is an excellent tweak when applied to any dac, and particularly to Totaldac dac.
The Totaldac Reclocker with the streamer module internally is a very convenient two-in-one solution.

If owners want even better performance, Vincent can offer a version in which the streamer module and reclocker circuit get their own external psu.

Certainly there is another upgrade path of using the Livepower PSU.

See M Lavorgna review with the internal streamer board. The external d1-streamer is even better, and he made a review of it as well: https://twitteringmachines.com/review-totaldac-d1-streamer/
Lavorgna made some good descriptions & conclusion in his review :

" ... Network Bridge allows my totaldac d1-seven to speak with great authority, clarity, and beauty. The totaldac d1-streamer allows the d1-seven to speak with greater humanity ...

... a more convincing, more corporeal experience when listening to my system with the totaldac d1-streamer in it. These changes have nothing to do with hifi and everything to do with music. Nothing to do with anything abstract, everything to do with everything that lends itself to the sense of the real when it comes to listening to music on the hifi ... "

;)

Thank you CKKeung,
Yes the live-power external power supply is very recommended to improve a Totaldac source, without any additional box needed.

I'm trying to figure out which Totaldac and streaming option in a compact system consisting of a pair of speakers, an integrated amp and a DAC + streamer board or DAC + separate streamer and all necessary cables.
I would like to keet the total budget of this rig within €50k.
I can get the speakers and integrated amp used for €13,5k instead of €30k new.
If you think this d1-tube-streamer is good enough for this rig or should i make the effort to go d1-direct + d1-streamer ?
Thanks for your help.

You will certainly be happy with the d1-tube(mk2)-streamer, people love it especially with the new tube I use now (and that M Lavorgna has not even tested yet, soon probably). The d1-direct is even better but the d1-tube is easier to use, the optimisation around it are less mandatory (network, mains filtering, reclocking, cabling...). Even in the most basic us cases it is very real and nice sounding.

Thanks Vincent, is the d1-tube mk2 more musical than the d1-single mk2 ?

It can be a matter of association but I like a lot the latest d1-tube(mk2).
