New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Steve, have you applied to the LA Times yet? As the Lakers beat writer?

I used to be an ardent reader of the LA Times. It was the first thing I did every morning. Now IMO newspapers have gone the way of the ICE :)

What do I think of the Lakers? Same as every other supposed contender before the season starts.....let's see what they do when the games count.

Anthony Davis is a great player....issue will be how he and LeBron fit together...and if LeBron means it when he says he will take a secondary roll to AD. LBJ has never taken a back seat to any other player before.

The other question is LeBron's health...showed his first weakness last year and he is 35.

Will there be in house intrigue like LeBron not respecting Frank Vogel? Jason Kidd is sitting there ready to swoop in as soon as LeBron gives him the OK so that will always be hanging in the air.

All that considered, the Lakers could be a very good team this year and will be fun to watch.

Not to pick on the Lakers as the Clippers have their own issues to contend with...like when will Paul George be ready to play...and can he play as he has in the past.

Two 7 footish lob targets from a freight train lobber looked really scary to me in that first quarter.

I’m amazed at the wingspan of AD

Agree with all points. Very true and valid. For me, I have no doubts LeBron will jell with AD. He RECRUITED AD. Makes no sense to be in some war path with the guy whom you orchestrated to quit his former team then slaughter him in your house. :D

The bigger concern is of course the Head Coach and his tenure, as LeBron has shown many time he DOES NOT like his coach when he and his team loses. How crazy does that sound? :D In short, blame it always on the coach but him. Always. Which is why indeed Kidd is there. Where else could Kidd be? Who would hire Kidd as an assistant when he was fired twice already as a Head Coach? :D The real saving grace of the Lakers is Avery Bradley, a no nonsense player who gives his all in a game.

Steve, that wingspan is just like a small bird when compared to the Celtics Tacko Fall's 8'4". AD's is only 7'5". :D

The Celtics, meanwhile, won their first game as a new look team, sans Irving and Horford and Rozier. Rozier must have gone to the C's locker room by mistake as his team visited the TD Garden. :) Tatum and Hayward starter at the 3 and 4, with Brown and Kemba at 2 and 3. That was what I imagined it to be. Hayward looks a bit heavy still, or maybe he cannot shed any more pounds anymore. :)To me, Sixers are a top contender, as are the Bucks of course.

I think the Sixers could be the team to beat in the east

after their win Lakers have already sent their first Tweet proclaiming "beware NBA"

I guess LeBron has officially entared his "playoff mode :)

....hope so because the Clippers lost to the Rockets a couple days ago in Hawaii.

However, they did beat the Shanghai Sharks yesterday.

Like everyone, we can only hope LeBron stays healthy and doesn’t reinjure his groin. That would be a true career changer but he still has a few records of Kobe and Kareem he needs to beat.

True to his name, ZION is bringing to his team to the promised land. First 5 plays I saw on the highlight reels. 10/10 bow. :D The guy can move, reminds me of a very agile Barkley, can fly, spin, twist, whatever moves needed, and has a great touch in terms of a shooting hand (something I cannot say about Shaq). :D Lonzo is a good fit for him, and a great feeder for Zion. The Pelicans are going to be fun to watch.

Hope Zion and the Pelicans do well (even Lonzo) as their fans deserve it.

I was surprised by LeBron's comments on the Daryl Morey/China situation.

It was a classic “free speech for me, but not for thee.”

I spent three years in graduate school with Adam Silver. He was very nice and smart, and he was well-liked by everybody.

Adam is perfect for his NBA position, but I think his record of skillfully navigating controversy and managing competing interests hit a pothole with his initial response to the general manager’s tweet.

I have stopped watching the NFL due to the political BS and now the NBA is not far behind. Professional sports needs WBF rules and guidelines. I dont need my entertainment muttled up with politics.
On the flipside its much less time staring at a TV screen.

Don't get me wrong, I love to talk politics, but I don't do it on the boss mans time. I can only imagine what would happen if I went out in front of the building and took a knee, especially since he is about to get an award from our commander in chief.
