I spoke to CH and they confirmed that the new ethernet streaming card is ready. As well as the current card functionality, it will also act as a Roon endpoint. The card is being verified by Roon and as soon as that is done it will be available for purchase. They indicated about 10% price increase over the existing network streaming card. He said there will be an upgrade path for existing network streaming card users - I don’t know the specifics.

I heard that other than Roon-compatibility, it has other hardware improvements too, such as the internet speed is increased 10 folds ...etc

Not sure that will help with my current 5mbps network speed!

the dealers have the details and it is age dependent. The retail cost of the card is 1000 more than the old one. It will ship in Sept for the C 1 and slightly after for the C1 mono

This was Florian's recommendation to me as well, to wait for the new ethernet board which will include Roon amongst other improvements.

News update on Roon Card:

The new Roon/Ethernet CH card is now ready and certified by Roon Labs. My dealer informed me the Cards will be shipping this Friday. Of course for exiting CH network card users, there is a trade-in program based on how old your C1 network card is.

Also, I think the HD input card is also required as well to play nicely with the roon card, but hopefully most C1 users have already purchased the HD card.

I’m glad i waited. I guess this means i don’t need a server like Lumin or Aurender anymore? The C1 would seem to do it all???

while you may not need a Lumin or Aurender to run roon now, you will still need a computer or dedicated roon server or NAS which can run roon core which will now able to ‘talk’ to the C1 once the roon/ethernet card is installed In the C1. Hope that makes sense.

Hello Jambo,
Do you have photos of this new Roon card to share with us?

Does it occupy one of the posterior slots of C1?

Thanks!

Roon core is on my pc which is on the network the C1 could plug into. I hope that works. It certainly does right now with Roon controlling my Sooloos output.

Hi CKK,
i don’t have any pictures of the roon card, but based on my understanding it is a plug in replacement for the existing ethernet card. So my guess is that it is the same size as the existing ethernet card. I have placed an order for one with my dealer.

And as you have pointed out roon themselves sent out an email informing thier users that CH C1 is now roon compatible, so it all official now.

If you have roon core on your computer, then all you need is the new CH Roon/Ethernet card in you CH C1 and you’re all ready to play ! And you’ll be offered very reasonable trade in price for your existing ethernet card, so start making inquiries with your dealer on the part-exchange price.

Can you be more specific on the price?
