This is a fabulous read

Seems the Clippers did what the Lakers did, only worse, with respect to giving up future prospects. They too have mortgaged their future

How Kawhi has warped the league and the NBA title chase

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27131967/how-kawhi-warped-league-nba-title-chase

I can live with such trades. Done by team's GM and executives. What I can't stand Is a player of James' egotistical stature interfering, colluding, and manipulating player movements. That thing has to be stopped.

And while you were all sleeping....

KAWHI TO CLIPPERS ........... + PAUL GEORGE !!!!!!!!!!!! FOR a RECORD NINE players in a massive trade with OKC.

https://www.si.com/nba/2019/07/06/clippers-sign-kawhi-leonard-free-agency-trade-paul-george

Kawhi and PG are going to be an outstanding duo. George just spent two years learning to play off the ball with Russell Westbrook. It is going to be incredibly difficult for any team to have the perimeter wherewithal to slow down Kawhi and PG. And on the other end of the floor, it may even be worse. The combination of Leonard, George and Patrick Beverley is going to be devastating defensively. And even by trading for Geroge, the Clippers have still retained so much of the core of their roster, including Beverley, Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams and Landry Shamet.
I'm very happy for the Clippers and for KL and PG.
But I'm sorry for Toronto and even more for OKC.
From all the possible teams to go for KL, going to the Clippers and to join with PG there is really as good as it gets
Also nice to see that teams can make excellent acquisitions and trades without any noise and without even threatening other teams

Quite a stunner, Jack. Who could have seen that coming? Specially the PG13 trade. Wow!
The PG trade is really a huge surprise for me and makes the Clippers VERY strong.
We only guesstimated where KL will land, not who could possibly join him
But I wonder why OKC let PG go after he seemed to be quite happy there finally in the meantime

Talk about a good fit between KL and PG. They operate best at opposite baselines (KL- left, PG - right) and are also at their best at opposite sides of the arc (KL-right, PG left). Hooboy. Doc is going to have fun having his boys swing the ball. Theoretically they have no "weak side". Both are already adept at Doc style drag screen PNRs and Pistol actions.

This might turn out to be the closest thing yet to MJ and Scottie.

"Kawhi is the most like Jordan we've seen."

Doc Rivers has some high praise for Kawhi Leonard.

"He is the most like Jordan that we've seen," Rivers said of the Toronto Raptors star. "... Not that he is Jordan or anything like that, but he's the most like him. Big hands, post game, can finish, great leaper, great defender, in-between game, if you beat him to the spot he bumps you off and then you add his three-point shooting."

Got him a $50,000 fine but it now seems like such a bargain. Innocent remark too. :)

It's time they traded Westbrook. They need to rebuild
How about Westbrook to the Lakers ;)
To join the senior's tour :p
But I have to admit that I really like Westbrook's energetic way of playing.
Very attractive to watch

I think OKC let PG go mainly over the luxury tax bind they were in being repeat offenders and all with nothing to show for it. The press are saying Kawhi himself recruited PG. The LA guys wanted to go home, and they did it together. Nice!
Very nice indeed.
And they chose the right team to go to as well :p:cool:

Taking about reunions and duos, I'd like to see Westbrook traded for CP3 - to pair with Harden. Both MVP caliber players. Disregard D'Antoni and use the double shotgun. :D
Did Westbrook and Harden get along well back in the time?

I am trying to imagine how Vogel will run his plays with Rondo (who has refused to run plays called by his coaches - Doc and Rick) and then LeBron, who has been the playing coach/PG in the past few years. I don't think he will be fired. He might just resign. :D
Or sit back and cash in. Money for nothing (for him probably no chicks for free :D)

Not sure, Christoph. What I recall is that Harden would come off the bench.

I fully agree with you on this

Luxury tax
Time to rebuild as they were getting nowhere

Westbrook is a great player but more often than not carries with him an annoying attitude into games.

He’s won it all except a ring. Don’t know whether I feel worse for Harden or for Westbrook

Not true IMHO.
Looks like big dollar bills are on his mind
Adam Silver was mentored by David Stern to carry on his legacy. Silver has good intentions however the latitude he has allowed with player manipulation of teams is simply terrible

BTW, as commissioner Silver makes $10M per year whereas David Stern was making $23M per year at the time of his retirement.Silver is under contract through 2024

Any news if the 7 foot Euro kid they got from the Lakers last year resigned with them? I liked that kid. I was scratching my head when they traded him.

I didn't have time to reply to this

The kid's name is Ivica Zubac and guess where he was traded...............The Los Angeles Clippers

or as they say in Lakers land , "another one bit the dust"

I liked him and Lakers needed a Center. He was young but could shoot

I was concerned that the Clippers were not going to re-sign Zubac. Glad that they did. Surprised the Lakers let him go last year.
