KR 242, Elrog 300, px4, px25, EML and KR 5u4g, and KR 274b

Awesome stuff  Please keep us updated.

I will be able to provide an update in a few days since I ordered one yesterday evening. Can't wait to test this out in combination with the new JCat femto usb card.

where are people buying the KR242 tube ? These are used in my second and third gain stages in my Allnic H5000 phono. I am interested in pricing from whoever is selling them.

PMed you Eunice Kron's details

check the pin configuration of your Alnic compared to the 300b configuration on for the Lampi.

I have a 20 year old NOS set of KR242's that needs an adapter to fit into the 300b pattern. make sure your Alnic uses the 300b config.

KR242 tubes are standard equipment on my Allnic phono. I was just curious where people were buying them, since they are for OEM from what I understand and are not available by the usual tube retailers.

Mike Bovaird in Florida (audioshark.org) is a Kron dealer.

Allnic uses a different pinout...not the 4 pin base used in the Lampi.

Mike L has a pair of the older type.

My KR242 are 4 pin in my Allnic.

old and new are both 4 pin, just slightly different. one won't work in the other......they will break trying to insert them.

likely my older KR242's are the pin config you need. they are different. the question should be whether the Alnic uses the standard 300b config. if not, then these new ones won't work without an adapter.

make sure you check it out before buying these Lampi versions.

btw; i'll sell you my old ones, as I got the new ones from Lampi. PM me if interested. I paid a pretty penny for them and have the adapters for the 300b pin config. but I only used them for 10 minutes since the gain was wrong.

Thanks Mike. I was just investigating other sources. I get them through Albert Porter who is Allnic's NA distributor.

Would like to find a pair KR 242. I will eventually order from Kron, but maybe someone is sitting on a pair and not using them.
Trades are possible too, px25 I.e.

You can try out mine. I am not selling, but if you want to check if they work in your system, I will tell Christoph to post mine to you (he is currently trying them out) and you can post back.

I would gladly do that.
I would prefer to keep them, though

When I said post back, I meant post back to me, not to him :)

If you were hard pressed, only to have the KR242 OR the EML 45 mesh anni globes, which ones would you choose?

If 242 work, 242 easily. Otherwise the special 45. With 242 it's always a risk if you haven't tried. Most B7 owners should be ok though. I know Marslo found those a bit too hard with his duos

Wow, thanks for your generous offer. My GG will go back to Poland this Saturday and it will come back with the 242 setting, even now my GG does have the 242 setting. It shouldn't be a question whether they work in the GG, but just how well they work.

In other words, it'll probably be three weeks before I have the GG back.

I think I'd rather buy a pair and complete my collection. -:))

Cool

How about coupling capacitors rolling?

By listening some other B7's with different caps but the same tubes the SQ differs.

I ordered some, arriving from next week to 4 weeks or so (some brands are hard to get...).

They are not cheap but a lot less than triode tubes, from US$200 to $500 by matched pair.

Which caps - Duelunds Mundorf, what else?
