I am not sure but I believe you trying to be an ASS so the answer is ....
Wow! It didn't take this one long to go off-topic. View attachment 17913
Yes when dealers get involved why does the mood go downhill fast--sad to see

Can someone enlighten me as to the retail prices of the new ARC KT150 series of amps/preamps? Where does the GS150 fall relative to the price of the REF150?
I think this thread was started to talk about how great this new amp is. Why are the posts about the room, room measurements and the expertise of the dealer who sells this amp? Has anyone else heard this amp in a different setting and would he be willing to share his opinion about how it sounds?
What fun would it be if someone didn't come in and dump on someones thread??? I was just about to ask your question when I read your post. Thanks.
oh come now purite audio. The thread title says it all. We don't need no stinking numbers, no measurements, none of that babble. With passion and beauty sometimes you just know.
And if you don't well that is because your equipment is bad, your hearing is bad or your experience is lacking. Surely you knew that?

Marty,
This is the first amp that was designed from scratch from ARC that uses the KT-150 tube. I dont understand the hostility on this site and elsewhere about it. Warren is the same guy that voiced all their other products and the same design team as all the products. Its a new product with a new look but at its core its an ARC amp plain and simple.
the amp is 20000.00 the preamp which is a full function preamp with phono and headphone is 15000.00. I have not yet listened to the preamp since Priaptor has a REF10 which is a great piece in his system.
i dont get why everyone is worried about the designation or the look. I just listen to the stuff and when we listen its a dark room and we cant see the stuff anyway.
Take a listen and see what you think.
Enjoy
I will not be kind to A-holes on this site anymore ( not you Marty)![]()
The biggest problem with this amp is it is too cheap. While others are building 6 figure amps for the Asian Pacific and Russian market, It appears AR decided to just build a better amp at reasonable price point using new technology. This strategy does not cut mustard with bona fide audiophiles. $20K? C'mon - how can we take this amp seriously. That should buy me a single run of an interconnect between the pre and the amp.
Funny at least I hope that its supposed to be. I cant tell on this site LOL
It's a fine line!![]()
look this was my thread about an amp.Audio reproduction is rather dependent upon measurements and specifications, I enjoy hearing an artist's passion reproduced with fidelity.
Keith.
true, its what has become of our country in microcosm. We dont seem to be able to have a dialogue about anything. It all seems to be a monologue with no ability to hear and discuss opposing or different viewpoints.
The thread is about what I heard and feel is a special generational product. It gets hijacked by the bozo's on the bus who cant understand anything but numbers and specs, lack imagination and passion, and generally want to just ruin it for those of us that do and enjoy and love music.
. We are in the same boat, those who loves specs, love music as much as the other guys...want to just ruin it for those of us that do and enjoy and love music.

Debate is about dissenting point of views. If you want people to simply applaud and congratulate you for your experience, you were not asking for a dialogue, two voices, rather you expected a monologue with everyone getting in line. I would grant you however that we could leave the room subject outside your recollection. They could graciously assume it was at least a good room.
It is IMHO part of the dialogue to question your experience and to question with the metrics the persons believes in. If it is specs you can reject them but they do not make of the person a "bozo". And those who measure do love music with the same passion and enthusiasm as you do. The love of music could be said to be not that widespread in many audiophiles some would not listen to music unless it is on LP (those usually reject measures too, go figure) or CD (much rare but still ...) . We, audiophiles often find ourselves appreciating more the sounds than the music itself, concentrating on the soundstage and other minutiae we audiophiles lose ourselves into ... No! A need or penchant for measurements and love of music are not antithetic. Those people do not lack, passion and don't . We are in the same boat, those who loves specs, love music as much as the other guys...
Of course there are those who want to just crap on a thread but ... I was answering your sweeping generalization. Back to your recollection ... I will comment on it ... Yes! I had that experience back in 1990 at a Stereophile show in NYC. two smallish amps , well made but smallish and producing the low output of 80 /w ch when the Krell Mosnters were all the rage and they did cost as much as a KSA 250 BTW. the Burmester 878. To this day (21014) I hold these electronics dear, I haven't been swayed too far from them.. Just re-acquired one the big brother of the 878.. I know what you're talking about.. I just knew ..
