Of course the teller said it's for their safety,but I couldn't help feeling like I was in a county jail visiting a friend. All we need to do is dish out some conservative medicine of dismantling safety nets and income support programs to drive more people into crime. It is called the Brazilianization of the USA.

The Chase banks near me have removed their thick walls of glass and built individual islands where you interact with the tellers. Of course about the only time I go into a branch is to get a cashiers check etc.

So less welfare increases crime ? that is a pretty incorrect assumption, I think. There are probably more criminals on welfare...and use crime as a supplement. It's about jobs which are anemic under obamanomics. Maybe people will think better when they pull the voting lever next time. Hehe
We have a few here....they suck. Their fries are dry and tasteless, but because they give you enough to feed a family of 4 they think taste is the less of a concern.
As far as the bullit-proof glass is concerned.....don't see that here. Maybe the odd branch here and there in high-crime areas (of which thankfully we have few).

It is one of these right wing myths, somewhat like illegal immigrants are more likely to be involved in criminal behaviour, when by and large they off course try to fly under the radar and are disproportionately less involved in crime that the general populations. I'm sure Sean Hannity sees it differently.
I think for the most part that the term "successful criminals" is an oxymoron. Some of the things they do are just hilarious. Our local paper has stupid criminal stories almost everyday although they aren't titled that.

There is no doubt in my mind that the widening disparity between classes in this country is creating more crime. While some of the more affluent in this country think they are being taxed to excess,even to say we are bordering on socialism,the cultural decline is accelerating. Too bad the polarization of ideas between people and political parties is rampant when this country needs solutions badly.
