Java Security Vulnerability

I removed Java from my system after learning its involved in many of the online security breaches.

This seems to be a reoccurring Java problem. We see a warning, they issue a patch upgrade then a few weeks later it repeats.

Java and Adobe;both naughty in how they developed their products and especially on Microsoft OS.
Makes you wonder if they deliberately decided not to follow the Microsoft OS architecture when developing for XP and later iterations, because this is how they created one of the biggest holes in Microsoft security.
Always good to have both disabled until you access a site requiring either.

Not sure if their design also breaks the security when used on a limited account (I do that but this is a right pain in backside because you need to logout and into an administrator accnt to do any updates including Microsofts own rofl), still I would not take chances even then.
Cheers

To add insult to injury, every time you try to upgrade Java, it defaults to wanting to install crapware such as new bars to your browser and such. One would think they would first create proper piece of software before trying to jam more stuff on our systems.

Anyone using a Mac antivirus program?

is there even a need for one Chuck? Has a virus ever infected a Mac

I would be ready to install something on my Mac but nothing by Norton. I used to use that software when I was a PC guy, and it would REALLY slow down the system.

Hence my question.
