Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

I placed an order with Taiko's dealer (Volent Hong Kong) back in August 2024 and have been waiting ever since for delivery. Each time I follow up, I’m given the same explanation — that the chassis finishing from their vendor was not up to standard, and new batches continue to fail Taiko’s QC. While I appreciate the commitment to quality, this same reason has been repeated for months with no clear corrective action plan or timeline provided.

For a reputable manufacturer, I would expect concrete steps to resolve the issue and a clear commitment on how and when it will be rectified. Instead, the chassis-finishing explanation keeps resurfacing without any meaningful update, resolution, or sense of accountability toward customers who have supported the brand.

I hope Taiko can address this more transparently and provide a realistic plan moving forward.
Sorry to hear this Ben. Thought you had received by now.

Geez, it took a whole minute for you to respond, Emile! Truthfully, thanks for the timely response and expanding my knowledge base :) It's quite amazing to be able to connect with you so directly, the creator and driving force behind these wonderful components, as you sit half-way around the world. This remains a wonderful exception in the world of high-end audio. Have a lovely Christmas and a fruitful, gratitude-rich 2026!

A whole minute, I’m clearly slowing down! :)

Thanks for the kind words. Always happy to chat and share what I can. Wishing you a great Christmas and an even better 2026!

Hi @Zaphod Beeblebrox ,

Maybe this helps ease the “audiophile nervosa” a bit: you don’t actually need to play music for burn-in to happen, simply having the unit powered on is enough. Unlike interconnects, the ~1.5" of copper PCB tracing that actually carries signal has so little dielectric involvement that any “signal-path burn-in” effect would be vanishingly small, if noticeable at all.

Hopefully that takes a bit of pressure off while you’re traveling :)
Is there a way you could recommend to burn in the analog card without it actually being installed in the Olympus or I/O?

Throw it in your oven and bake at 375 degrees for 21 days, if you set for convection bake 16 days should do it.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
I was thinking similar thoughts involving thermite and Semtex. But it could be difficult to get the military-grade stuff. . .

Besides, I've already been admonished once about mentioning things burning or blowing up!

I usually just leave the card outside during a full moon and let the universe handle the voicing.

Here in the US it is Green Wednesday, so there will be lots of stuff burning-in today.
But on the audio side of the spectrum, Schiit has Brown Wednesday going on. Choose your preference, or both.
Have a good "cousin walk", dude!

Thanks Greg, I still have my Extreme working fine so the wait is just about frustration and disappointment. I am looking at 2026 now.
Think Black Friday;)

Smart kitty! We have a little black cat as well but she’s not fond of the music room so seldom ventures in. Warm server surely a fav spot for pussy-gato.

And besides, any cat hair that might fall inside is surely fantastic for the Olympus. I don't even want to think about what would happen if something else fell in...
