I agree completely. When I have my system cranked at home, my little phone app says 80-81 dB. That is plenty loud. Horns can be dangerous in that they have so little distortion and they just don't break up like most cone speakers.

Hi all... just a note, we received a best of show blue note award for room at the Toronto Audiofest from Enjoy the music. That Genya was at the head of the chain....

Hello everybody, I wanted to give you heads up concerning the additional perk in the Genya product: the possibility to use Directly Heater rectifier, same as in the Horizon. (like 274B, 5U4G, 5R4WGBA, 5Y3, 5C3S etc. These elevate the sound even further.
Unfortunately the big rectifiers don't fit under the top cover so we had to cut the "chimney hole" in the top.
The conversion to DHD (directly heated diode) requires only two wires change and a small soldering job that we can guide. This variant will appear in the 2026 price list, cost TBD. the old rectifier tube can NO LONGER be used after the conversion.

Can the supply handle a 6By5? it is 1.6A .... a pretty big load. I just have always found that the damper diodes sound the best, but they do take a lot of filament current. The advantage is also that it may fit under the hood of older builds without the cut out.....

BTW, we used a Genya at the Toronto audiofest and it was superb. Got a blue note award for best room at show That was using a Bendix 5952 and stock 6N6P. Honestly, I really found no reason to want to change the sound of the Genya.

Oh, one last question. I have a Pacific that I sent in for the Pacific 2 upgrade and I use adapters for a great rectifier and 4P1L outputs. Fully balanced with no vol control so I can use my preamp. It is a wonderful DAC. I have no way to compare the Genya to my Pac2 in the same system. The Genya is in Ontario with my manufacturing partner and I am in BC. I would love to hear both in the exact same system to compare. But perhaps you have. Any comments on the sound of the Pacific 2 vs the Genya? I find both the be superb in their respective systems.... thanks....

You're right, after trying a 5U4 and 5R4 that I had at home (with the small modification that Lucasz indicated to me) I went back to using the original 6X5 Philips or the dynamic Bendix 5852. I don't know if I did something wrong, but with the 5Ua and 5R4 (at least with the ones I have) it had lost its superb incisiveness.
