Steve thanks for posting this,as I did not know about the "super moon". Most probably think that if I told you,that astrological events can sometimes have dramatic effects on psychology effecting stock markets. My Mom always knew when there was a "full moon",the nuts would come out,she was a waitress and worked graveyard.

You are right. As mentioned in the article...

Hartmann, along with Planetary Science Institute colleague Don Davis, determined that a roving planetoid, large enough to blast off enough mantle material to make the moon, could have struck the Earth shortly after its formation.

We can thank this for our 24 hour days because before this, Earth's days were only 6 hours in duration.

That particular shot was at:
f/11, 1/200th, iso 200 when I shot it. If I did it today I probably would bump the iso to 400 and then double the shutter speed to 1/400th.

A great shot! I can't get a shot that good with my limited gear, but one day (hopefully)...

The MOON

I saw it last evening; 'Live' just after waking up over the horizon. ...Incredible, and huge! :b

* ...Not a single cloud in the sky here; last evening/night at that time.
And tonight, this evening should be the exact same (perfect sky).

NOTE: It is when she first shows up just over the horizon that she is the largest.
