Qobuz and Tidal comparison

They are doing serious demonstration.

The conclusion is that Qobuz give more realistic bass and nuanced details than Tidal.

It is because that Tidal use more compression.

I've trialled them back to back a few times, pre and post Tidal's MQA debacle.
I would concur.

Qobuz is the most resolved natural sounding, including the bass.
Resolved yet non-fatiguing.

For me, the main reason for me to get Qobuz is because my classical music albums comes with the booklet in Qobuz. Unless Tidal has changed, I don’t think I can read the information booklet in Tidal.

There are some non-classical albums, e.g. k-pop or canto pop or even Canadian pop (Carly Rae Jepsen) that are not available on Qobuz. But since they are not my primary interest in music, I just live without them. There is always YouTube.

When I had both Tidal and Qobuz at the same time, when the album is identical, I have not noticed streaming from Roon in my system to make a difference to the sound. But that’s just my system.

I have both Qobuz and Tidal going back several years. I use Qobuz almost exclusively (about 95%) because of SQ, and I prefer the platform. I keep Tidal because I can sometimes find an album that’s not on Qobuz.

Thanks. Right now I have a device that allows to me stream radio and I'm happy with it and that doesn't cost anything.

I prefer to own my music in a physical format vs a download. The Linn Klimax music streamer is definitely compelling but I own 1000 CD's and would rather play those vs using a paid service for streaming.

Like you I also own about 1400 CD's, which are now all stored on a 16 TB NAS. I also have over a TB of DSD albums. For me the biggest value of having Qobuz and Tidal is previewing new albums every Friday when new albums drop. I spend a few hours every Friday listening to those, deciding which ones I want to own. Also, I love the thread "What's Spinning Tonight" here on WBF to find new music...

I've no more room for anymore physical media and I'm not willing to store any music on a hard drive no matter how good it might be, so...
I also listen to a lot of radio and have a app that allows me to listen to the most current music via Bluetooth streaming from my McIntosh MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver for free. I won't be purchasing any more music in the physical format. I do have a iPod that my wife bought for me 2010 that has about 100 hours of music on it but I've not uploaded any new music on it since 2010 and I'm not planning to either.

My Current Physical Media Inventory: 8000 LP's, 1000 CD's, 8 SACD's, 1 XRCD, 600 10.5" blank analog tape reels that I've recorded live FM radio classical music performance broadcasts on from 1983-1998(24 of those tapes I used to record certain LP's in 2005).
