I switched my DAC to cheapo non MQA dongle and now I seem to like MQA??!! as long as the original was 16/44.1, like this one below. Beats the pants off the CD!

A whole afternoon's worth of beautiful music:

Were these originally Philips catalog tapes? I have some of these on record and very well recorded. I am sure that the digital reissues would be excellent.

I'm not sure but it does have a nice tape sound quality to it.

Haven't enjoyed listening to Led Zep II for years ( my vinyl is in storage) but this MQA version now sounds much better than it used to, go figure.

Depends on the analog gear being used of course. Also the pressing of the record. But the MQA may in fact sound better if the analog system isn’t at the cutting edge.

What a fun topic! Have you heard:

Beck: Heart Is A Drum

Michael Bublé, Barenaked Ladies, Sofía Reyes: Gotta Be Patient

Larry Carlton: Sunrise

Alanis Morissette: You Oughta Know (Acoustic)

Freya Ridings: Lost Without You

Rufus Wainwright, Andrew Bird, Chris Stills: Harvest (feat. Andrew Bird & Chris Stills)

Emily Wurramara: Lady Blue

Cheers to Tidal for consolidating tiers and lowering the price of admission to $10.99 (effective April 2024).

Let’s keep this thread going!
