For those of you who don't know about this album, you are in for a treat. This is jazz music that is well-played and well-recorded. These guys are so tight you couldn't squeeze daylight between them. The songs are all catchy and again, I think the sound is outstanding.

Has it been rereleased on vinyl?
Love the guy- he's the core of so many jazz records I enjoy.Had the pleasure of hearing him play at Ronny Scotts in London with the LA4 back in 1980.

i recommended this title on another thread, some of Ray's highly dynamic neck 'slapping' with some comic relief thrown in (ringing phone). its a later concord jazz release after they quit vinyl and available as a hybrid SACD get em while they're still in print!

Funny thing about that ringing phone (track 2 by the way)...The first time I heard the phone ringing, I thought it was my phone upstairs ringing as I have the phone in my listening room disconnected. It was very late at night and my wife was sleeping so I raced up the stairs to answer the phone. I quickly discovered the phone that was ringing was in the recording and in fact you can hear the people in the crowd laughing. However, it sounded just like my phone sounds upstairs when it is ringing when I hear it from my listening room. This recording is so good I don't think it matters which format you buy it in, but of course I would recommend the SACD if that is the best you can get.
