Speaker cables with CR1s?

Greeting's Gents,

What length of speakers cables are you all using with the CR1's? I have a pair in for pre show set up testing, and usually use 9m runs but CR1 does seem to prefer shorter runs. We swapped out to a 4.7m pair and got improvement, better hf, soundstage depth etc. If short runs are the consensus, we will place equipment between the speakers but behind closer to front wall, maybe MONO's on separate individual stands..

Also positioning, rear panel is 4ft from front wall which seems to be a minimum would you agree?

Using an all Concert Fidelity system.
