Recommendation for an equalizer or equalizer schematic?

I want to get an EQ to play with, it will go between my DIY 3wpc tube amp and DIY tube preamp.
I will build one if I can find the right circuit (I can build from a schematic) or buying one is ok too.

I use different sources and want to be able to tweak the sound better. I am not interested in something that I have to use a computer or phone with.

My system consists of: Teac A-4070 open reel, Nakamichi CR-1A cassette, JVC TD-V711 cassette, Technics SL-1200M3D turntable (highly modified), Emotiva CD player, DIY 6N6P preamp, DIY 6E5P 3wpc amp.

Doing a bit of research into various / famous eq designs from the recording and mastering worlds would be a good start. From there find a schematic for the design you settle on?

From another angle I seem to recall John Broskie making a simple eq kit...

Curious why you would not just get one of minidsp options? Of course if you're using a turntable this wouldn't make sense.

I suggest you start cheap and simple with the Schitt Loki Mini Plus or the Schitt Lokius to find out it this approach works for you. You can always upgrade if/when you become committed.
