Ah, the great days of receivers with wood enclosures!

You bet, case in point: My father's last stereo 1980 Pioneer SX-3900 with 120 watts per channel (I still have it)

I used to drool over that line. I still remember the feel of those levers. They were so popular in that era. Those were the days where you could feel the quality of the product by how the mechanics worked! My brother and I pestered our mother enough 'till she gave us enough money to buy the AM/FM tuner of the same.

As Forrest Gump said, "I don't remember being born... but I do remember" the smell of that unit when we first got it! Equipment used to have that new car smell. Stuff we miss :).

Wow Wardsweb, that receiver looks very much like an Onkyo that my brother used to own. I agree with you amirm, in those days the smell of the gear was almost addictive when new. Funny thing is, that I remember getting a great deal of pleasure from that old Onkyo
and listening to a lot of music. The cost to pleasure ratio of those old pieces was really something else; a little of which I think is missing today in the ipod world ,etc.

No, its a straight scan from Fuji Velvia 50 (35MM Nikon F5) that had Polarizer plus Coken Xpro (half) variegated ND gray filter. I used a common Epson desk top scanner so some colors are off.

I've considered purchasing a pro scanner for my (10,000?) chromes but since no one will pay a decent price it's something that never happens.

Here from same California shoot for SWA

Lake Tahoe?

Can we talk about re-sizing photos to reasonable dimensions?

Some standard sizes are:

Large 1024 by 768px
Small 800 by 600px
Web-Large 640 by 480px

It's not hard to re-size and then we could see the entire picture at once.

Bob, the first picture is nice but technically, there is something wrong with it. Seems like it was reduced in size and then enlarged again. How did you create it?

how can you tell
