May I change course just momentarily? Here's one of my fondest early audiophile memories, from my hometown Cleveland Orchestra:

It turned out that this was George Szell's last recording, as he passed away shortly thereafter. Fortunately, NHK Japan recorded it and I recorded it off-air onto cassette tape at the time.

The greatest live performer I ever had the pleasure of seeing 3 times. No one, and I mean no one, gives a performance like James brown.

The video isn't complete (it cuts at 4:07), just when you want more, but it's a great example of his energy, showmanship and talent.

I say James Brown is doing two shows a night in heaven. I am sure he gets mad when God says his Saturday night show has to end by midnight.
