An interesting, just posted video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkenklfQsZQ - at 720p, as always. The music starts at about 39 minutes - obviously, tonality issues, but what is striking are the effortless dynamics; it would be an interesting exercise to see if the problems in the quality could be resolved without doing too work to the core parts ...

Just found these interesting closeups of my original CD player, http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/156478-yamaha-cdx-1110-worth-modding.html ; well not exactly, I had the CDX 1100, the model before - but visually it's near identical, I would be struggling to pick the differences. The silly wording on the transformers coverings, "Massive Power Supply" had the far more intelligent, meaningful "Digital ... " and "Analogue ..." on the covers of mine - they did their homework here.

As mentioned elsewhere, these have a very smooth sound as their cold characteristic - analogue, some may say, ;) - after heavy conditioning, leaving on 24/7, detail builds and no excuses have to be made for initial lack of transient impact. Very little internal modding was done, it showed me the "true path" essentially in raw form - it could be got right, way back 3 decades ago ...
