ying and yang--Lamm ML3 and darTZeel 458

It's not a question of mismatch Bruce because there isn't one, I was only addressing Mike's comments liking different things about each amplifier on his speakers, I gave a reason why it's not clear cut one way or another somehow it came across as an attack of sorts which it wasn't.

Thank you David for the reply-- understood your reasons-- we all appreciate the guidance you are giving with the benefit of your experience

(...) The other thing I said is that there's nothing in common between Wilson & EA speakers and that similar sensitivity figures don't make them the same, doubt anyone from either company will disagree.

david

Although I have only limited experience with MM3's - show and shop demo's - I fully agree with you. EA's and Wilsons's are night and day sonically and technically.
BTW, although we have confirmed complete measured data on the Wilson's efficiency and impedance, we do not have public data on the efficiency and impedance of the Evolution Acoustic speakers. Big speakers are not easy to measure.

Peter, why wouldn’t they remain sounding v different?
Indeed I’m glad they do.
The world would be a massively more mundane place if there was convergence on everything.
Love him or loathe him, Trump is contrasting radically versus every other world leader.
What that’ll lead to, I don’t know.
But the divergence is already producing results.
We need more divergence in politics, not the convergence of the mediocre (try looking at the UKs pitiful performance in trying to enact Brexit).
Back to hifi.
MikeL still makes the call for vinyl despite his uber MSB, top tts still provide sufficient divergence from digital to make the experience of listening to an lp or cd/stream totally different.
Indeed in my case, my digital has improved in leaps and bounds. But is still a long way away from the total immersion thing I’m getting from my recently reinstalled analog.
Top horns, modded Apogees, SOTA box speakers, all converge in providing better than ever listening experiences, but all diverge in the overall presentation, and very few listeners are going to be speaker technology agnostic.
Similarly, few will be vinyl/digital agnostic.
Or indeed tubes/SS agnostic.
Embrace the difference!

You missed my point completely.

David K's comment on the ceramic driver issue begs the question it may've been prudent for him to confer with Mike BEFORE M purchased the Lamms-no?

and stating the facts as he knew them relating to a possible "mismatch".

I trial before committing may have saved the Angst and conjecture.

From Mike's reports, he seems quite happy with the Lamms.

Sure Peter. Too bad. Not the first time I’ve wasted words on the forum.

As long as it's not the last time, otherwise forums will get pretty boring

Oh don’t worry Ked, there are plenty of others who can keep the “boring quotient” on the forum bubbling along nicely. I’m not the only one who loves the sound of my voice, and feels I have witty, relevant things to say. Some are misguided (incl me), others don’t even know it.
The joke? I re-read Peter’s post and still feel my response was relevant. Hey ho, I’m obviously just not getting it.

+1. nothing wrong with the Lamm's themselves, just the agenda's I've stirred up.

in spite of the conflicts and challenges to my credibility that me being honest about the limitations of SET's has brought, I've truly enjoyed the ML3's and am delighted (and feel privileged) to have them. and I think my system is perfectly accommodating to them and brings out the best in them. they are exactly the answer to the question I was asking and the itch I needed to scratch. they are keepers.

this is just a damn forum thread, and not life and death stuff. much better than the hour of Fox News my wife makes me sit through during dinner.

That’s the spirit Mike. Just as you feel you couldn’t be more pissed off reading our comments/suggestions etc, get a dose of the real world filtered thru media lens.

You are the Sean Hannity of audio reporting.

Glad to hear that. The way the thread was going, I was starting to wonder. Enjoy them in good health Mike ! ;)

I was never wondering. It was obvious that Mike was enjoying them -- congratulations on those amps, Mike!

Hey, I love you too Ked.
But this bromance could cause the whole of WBF to collectively heave, so let’s keep our undying devotion to each other off-forum.

Me? My soul needs a good rinse w Breitbart after I’ve got down and dirty playing NWA.

Ouch indeed... an hour of Cockroach News is sheer torture

not saying i'm not agreeing with most of it. i'm moderately conservative, and mostly anti main stream media. but it's just a bunch of noise I don't need after my work day. the wife is quite/very conservative, and she likes it. so there you go. she is very accommodating to me, as is obvious. and it allows me to logically say 'enjoy your politics dear, thanks for dinner, i'm going out to listen'. so there is a silver lining to Hannity's ranting.

Stephen Pinker is about to release a book “The New Enlightenment” in which he claims EVERYTHING about modern life is better. Does the guy watch the news, go online, deal w social media? The data may support him, but the day to day grind of dealing w 24/7 news, Fake News and relentless analysis, is truly depressing.
