Apple, in rolling out OS 11, may be the beginning of the end for MQA

The war is over? Amusing.

Here is a little linky for you.

The April 2017 MQA Finanical Statement.

The cash burn rate is impressive..

Nice multi million pound loss....and the cash keeps on gushing out.

Link goes nowhere for me.

But even so, look at any startup of this scope. Losses are expected early on and part of the plan. You have to have revenue sources in place to turn a profit. That takes time for any startup.

(...) An interesting read. Apparently Miller is devising a way to measure
the timing correction claims.

Interesting, but I think that posting full pages of a magazine in WBF is a copyright violation unless made with permission!

Just tried it. link works perfectly.

Yes, losses are expected..in the beginning..too bad Meridian has lost 30 million pounds since 1977!

Some years as much as 5 million dollars! Whoo Hoo!

Alex, I may be incorrect in this...and I'm certainly willing to be incorrect, but I distinctly remember Peter stating that the files were converted to MQA from his original files, that were in the standard red book format. If this is not so, I do not recollect Peter stipulating any difference in the recording of each original file as to the sampling rate before he played back said file.

No, for the MQA session, everything was 24 bit, at least 48Khz I believe, most were 88Khz.

In the United Kingdom, if a company receives tax assistance from the government, their documents are available
for all to view.

These are available as a matter of public record.

Excellent. So their strategy is open for all to see.

Again I see nothing nefarious. What would be nefarious is if they were hiding what they are trying to do on the business side. They seem quite transparent on those points.

You are missing the point. One poster doubted their goal was to get involved in,
ultimately profit from music distribution. I prove them wrong.

Nobody said they were trying to "hide their strategy".

The fact is their product is totally unnecessary, and they know it would be a tough sell, hence
the concerted effort to co-op the audio press as a de-facto PR service.

This part worked.

Even those selling vapor ware need a business plan when they incorporate.

This is consistent with their patent filter specification which has a 32db bleed thru of aliasing comments as trade off for impulse response/ringing

It would be interesting to read but is certainly not necessary.

What Meridian has lost or earned since 1977 has nothing to do with investors in MQA, a startup according to the Strategic Review you posted.

And? Who cares? The strategy is out there for all to see. It is public.

It's also pretty normal for a licensing concern. And if they are successful on their goals, they will be very profitable, which is the potential investors' interest.

Not saying you or anyone else have to like it.

Now you are being disingenuous...MQA was started by Peter Craven and Bob Stuart. Go through the documents and see all the transactions.

It has everything to do with Meridian just about going belly up. A desperate measure was needed.

Clearly Wilson Audio is benefiting from all the MQA demos. I can see what is happening here.

May I ask the reason why you don't publish your name and affiliations?

You're obviously infringing this forums' TOS, by not divulging your affiliations, so even though the moderators don't care, I'm sure others would be delighted to know your background affiliations, if not your proper name.

thanks,

What Wilson Audio benefits from for going on 20 years now is the best brand ambassador in audio. Peter McGrath's ability to convey the strength of Wilson Loudspeakers, often using his own recordings both private and commercially available, is second to none. If that includes an MQA file or two in the mix, so be it.

Ray Bolger would be in awe of your construct.

Well that confirms that the big three, are probably heading down the MQA route, as all three are listed as significant share holders, or they are having an each way bet ?

Smart way to be aware of company's activities/ progress. For them, it's a cheap hedge.
