Really enjoying these three new LP's:

James Hunter "Minute By Minute"
Old fashioned R&B on a mono release...cool!

The Menahan Street Band "The Crossing"
The house band for Daptone. This is a great instrumental R&B release.

Charles Bradley "Victim of Love"
Sophomore release by soul shouter who had to wait until he was 62 to get a record.

He's the subject of a new documentary...

James Hunter is a really nice guy. He was playing down the road (literally) Monday nite, and we were on our way to dinner, he was sitting outside the club, hanging with the band- I was tempted to stop and same something British- he's a funny guy and that band is tight.
Daptones are the Brooklyn crew with whatsihername Jones that did the Amy Winehouse record, right Doc?

Yup...Sharon Jones. And you are correct, they did the Amy Winehouse record "Back to Black" Daptone is the record label. This is Jame's Hunter's first record since his wife passed.

Great suggestions. Just ordered all of them, plus another $160 worth.

Are you guys familiar with ebreggae.com? They sell Daptone and many other labels on LP. Their MOFI prices are fairly reasonable, as well, with a wholesale account. Spend $50 and you too can open a wholesale account. Bigger discounts and bi-monthly coupons on orders. Win-win.

Got my ebreggae order yesterday. Still going through the lot, but I do have a recommendation:

Fantastic!
