Along these lines, check out Paris Combo from France, and for a little more dustbowl, old timey Americana, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, and Spirit Family Reunion. I just saw SFR last week open for the Felice Bros, and they are great..did a soundboard recording too.
I downloaded the set. Love the music although I found the vocals a tad on the bright side. Solid bass and imaging with depth and a nice separation of the various instruments. It is also mastered a bit on the loud side. Didn't have to turn the knob up to get very loud sound. 9 o'clock at the highest.

Hi I bought it too. I did not get a chance to hear it on the main system yet. I will also check the DR level. Surprising they would master
something like this like a pop recording, since it is essentially mostly acoustic. Thanks for the heads up. Will report back.
What is great is there has been a pretty decent movement as of late with young musicians mining prewar
musical forms and infusing lots of energy. There is even a modern Klezmer scene now..if you can believe it!
Old Crow Medicine Show are another favorite...real dustbowl...ramshackle stuff.

Agree...I also find both the skills and recording quality of these younger jazz-influenced artists to be super-impressive...Regina Carter, Zaz, Cecile McLorin Salvant, etc...
