TAD Reference D600/C600/M700/R1 Review 2022, Tehran Iran

Hey Amir, beautiful setup. Are you by any chance Amir from Iran that used to frequent Klipsch forums. If so, I think we have chatted many years ago. Lovely to meet again.

It seems you have allocated space for your setups. Are you planning any professionally done room acoustics work for these beautiful setups to get the most out of them?

Hi Kodomo

I am not member of Klipsch forums,
I am just member of www.goodsoundclub.com and here (WBF).
I also wrote some notes in ASR forum but I am not active there.

awesome stuff. Beautiful system. I have the same speakers, but driven by DartZeel. The TAD electronics have always interested me, but are very expensive here in the US which I think hurts them.

TAD electronics are perfect match for TAD R1 .
The interesting point is TAD Japan designed all electronics upon minimalist low/zero feedback design like tube systems.

Complete TAD system just need good acoustics, good AC power and good speaker position.

CEC TL0 3.0 Transport
Vitus Audio MP-D201 DAC
Vitus Audio MP-L201 Pre
Vitus Audio MP-M201 Power
TAD Reference One Loudspeaker
Skogrand Stravinsky Cables

Changing Transport to CEC TL0 3.0

Basic Condition for playback:

- Room Speaker Intraction (Room shape/Speaker position by Stirling Trayle)
- AC Power Quality
- Amplifier Speaker Matching

For perfect digital playback :
- High quality Digital PCM record (just Disc playback not file playback) 24bit 96khz/192khz or 16bit 44.1khz
- Big linear Power supply for DAC
- High quality disc transport like CEC TL0 3.0

My Experience after three years of listening to TAD Reference System :

TAD D600 Transport
TAD C600 Pre Amplifier
TAD M700 Power Amplifiers
TAD Reference One Speaker
Skogrand Stravinsky Cables

I think TAD sound is so much better than most (over 95%) super expensive audio systems.
both TAD R1 speaker and TAD Electronics are perfect. TAD Electronics circuit design are minimal/simple with no/low feedback design. very very pure and dynamic. the linear power supply is 10 times oversized and TAD M700 circuit design is patented in USA by pioneer.

the sound is both dynamic and pure, I wonder how TAD have both dynamics and transparency at highest level.

I believe only two loudspeakers in this market (Gobel Majestic $600k and $920k Wilson WAMM) can compete with $180k TAD R1.

I think TAD Reference has no rival in it's price range. I should Thanks TAD Pioneer for introducing these audio jewelry

what TAD reference needs to give you perfect sound ?

- proper speaker position in room
- high quality low impedance AC power (TAD D600 is very sensitive to AC power quality)
- good room size (40sqm up to 60sqm without subwoofer, over 60sqm with subwoofer)
- wide dispersion of R1 needs wide side walls , I think over 7m widths (widths of rear wall) is ok for TAD R1
- TAD electronics are double isolated so there is no need to have high quality earth
- wellfloat vibration control under all electronics and speakers
- adding CEC TL0 3.0 can help for timing, pace and bass but TAD Transport is good enough.

system is ok in standard mode but if you want you can add another pre amplifier C600 and two M700 for mono pre amplification (Zero ground loops + more dynamics) and bi-amping.

I invited Stirling Trayle for speaker positioning but U.S. citizens can not come to Iran because of USA alerts (The U.S. Department of State advises U.S. citizens not to travel to Iran due to the risk of wrongful detention, arbitrary arrest, and the potential for kidnapping. The travel advisory level for Iran is Level 4: Do Not Travel. U.S. citizens currently in Iran are advised to depart immediately if they can do so safely).

after proper speaker placement my system just need good AC power quality and no more.

I started audio reviewing since 2000 (www.hifi.ir), after 5 years I convinced audio is not a simple game and also convinced audio magazines are not trusted. after reading Jim Smith book and also reading Romy the Cat website since 2009 I tried to learn and improve my trusted information. after 2018 I started to import some brands to Iran.

my favorite brands in this market 2025:

In the future I hope I could demo Wadax Reference + Gobel Majestic + 6 Subwoofer + Vitus MP-M201 in Iran.
