Spectral preamps

Hi all
I own a DMC-30 SS series I and I am thinking of a new Spectral preamp for a second system. One model I have looked into is the DMC-15 SS. Is it correct to assume that this is a 30 but without the XLR inputs and the remote? Is that simpe? Has anybody been able to compare both?

They are not the same inside. The 15 is single ended and the 30 is balanced. That said the 15 is exceptional! I had both in house for an audition. I wish I would have gone with the 15SS. As it serves the purpose of a preamp perfectly. No remote and no balanced input pushed me to the 30. Just fyi, spectral use and older balanced configuration and most modern balanced devices need to have the phase inverted to be correct..

Yes, nearly all the spectral amps are very good - what power cables are you using with them? Have you found a brand that works well with them?

Shunyata alpha is the cable I was using. It must be 10 years old by now. Works fine.

Thanks, used the Shunyata before and they are good but the best ones I have found so far are a brand called Musical Bliss. Have you tried those?

Thanks Dan! Do you know the gain of the 15SS by any chance. I have looked everywhere and couldn't find it!

I cannot find it either. I would assume 15db. Same as the 30SS.
