I've always been a fan of the LIve Vibe (formerly Star Sound) approach to vibration management. I recently added some LIve VIbe Rhythm products to my system and thought I'd share my experiences. I made some recent changes to my system with the addition of new speakers from Von Schweikert. As a result, I ended up with a couple of "older" Sistrum Apprentice platforms that would no longer "fit" under my new speakers. I have always used the LIve VIbe brass Audio Points under electronics, but when the Apprentice platforms became available, I thought I would experiment with them to see if they would improve upon the Audio Points. I removed the individual Audio Points under my pre-amp and DAC and replaced them with the Apprentice Platforms. Frankly, I was quite surprised. I expected some level of improvement, but I was not expecting how dramatically better the performance would be using the Rhythm platforms vs the audio points. The results were immediately noticeable. Detail, transparency, and dynamics were all improved with the platforms vs individual audio points. Everything just sounded more realistic and alive.
I contacted Live Vibe Audio to find if there was a platform with appropriate dimensions that I could use under my new speakers. As it turns out, they had just started manufacturing a larger version of the Rhythm Platform that measures 14x24. These worked perfectly for my new speakers. Getting these in the right location and setting 200 lb speakers on them was a bit of a challenge. It took lots of measuring and a couple of strong friends. I did not attempt to A/B compare these to other footer options on the market and there are lots of good ones. I can only offer a comparison to the stock footer cones that came with the speakers, but these Rhythm platforms perform beautifully. With the Rhythm platforms under the speakers, everything is surrounded by more "air" and the dynamics jump out. The impact is almost as if someone had increased the overall playback volume of the system. Highly recommended if you are looking at vibration management solutions.
