When you know how big the unit is you can only say: Wow that is one big bad arse speaker.

Here’s my single silver unit in grf cab.

Unfortunately it doesnt sound as good ad my golds. Could be the xover thats shot.

Is this the original GRF? Congratulation.
My friend who has kindly lent me his XA-25 has one pair of original GFR cases with Gold 15". He made a new Xover -based on Tannoy original circuit diagram- using Duelund and Mundorf. The sound is simply amazing.

Unfortunately no. But they are replicas made by men that say they know what they’re doing.

I have plans similar to your friend.

I can only agree with lord nelson: these old tannoys are very revealing of anything that goes on upstream.

Trouble with the original tannoy xover diagrams is that they dont agree with measurements of actual tannoy xovers.
The bass coil is said to be 1.2mH in the diagram but measured to 2mH in gold xovers and 3mH in hpds.

On the tannoys group you can find more info.

Ive heard a couple of new xovers with fancy componenrs that sounded more different than better.
