In 2017, Acoustic Sounds (Chad Kassem) started releasing albums on 1/4" tape, 15ips 2 track tape, 2 reel albums. I purchased the first set of 12 albums when they were first released. Chad has stated that he copied Tape Project in designing and producing the new albums. Since that time Acoustic Sounds has continued to release albums and have released over 40 albums in total. Like Tape Project, duplication is made by a bank of Ampex ATR-102s. My collection includes the initial 12 albums and eight additional albums that I have purchased over the years. I have added album title labels for clarity. Acoustic Sounds has a very broad catalogue, perhaps broader than almost any retailer. This gives them access a wide range of titles for future tape releases. The have released a set of 10 blues and other albums that Acoustic Sounds recorded themselves. One of the titles, "Rock With Me Baby", by Little Hatch, had previously been released by Tape Project, licensed by Acoustic Sounds. Currently they are in the process of releasing four albums by Bob Marley and the Wailers, one of which I recently received and is in the second picture. When the tapes were first released under the label "UltraTape" they were priced at $450 (with a small discount for buying all 12 together). New releases are priced between $450 and $600 per title for the two reel albums.

I was attracted to the Ultratapes because they included many early RCA stereo classical recordings, including some of the most sought after titles, like the Respighi Pines and Fountains of Rome and Rimsky-Korsakoff Scheherazade, both with Fritz Reiner conducting the Chicago Symphony. The RCA albums made up five of original 12 albums. There were several more, of which I bought three, subsequent to the original releases. Near mint vinyl copies of the original recordings today can cost more than the tapes.
