This is the first of several posts of pictures of my commercial 15ips 2 track tapes collected over the past 18 years. I started my collection by joining Tape Project in 2007 or 2008, as number 45. Initially, Tape Project sold the first ten albums as a group (I think it was around $1500 for all ten two reel albums). We paid in advance and it took some time for the tapes to appear. The same happened with the second group of ten for a higher price (maybe $2000). Then after that, the tapes were sold one at a time, rising in price to the current $500 per 2 reel album. The pictures show all the tapes (except for the digital origin tape which I did not get). Being in the SF Bay Area, I got to visit the original studio and got to know Paul Stubblebine, Michael "Romo" Romanowski, and Dan Schmalle, the three founders of TP. They all have visited my home and helped me in many ways on my hifi journey. You will see that eight of my first set of ten albums look different (two separate boxes for the two reels). This is because I ended up buying a large collection of tapes in 2016 which included albums 1-4 and 7-10 as 1/2" 15ips tapes, specially ordered from Tape Project and I sold my 1/4" boxes. The collector told me that those 1/2" tapes cost $900 per album. 2016 was also the year that I acquired two Ampex ATR-102 machines which I bought from recording studios. Both have two head blocks each - one 1/4" and one 1/2" which allowed me to play both size tapes. I also added labels on the album boxes, so I could read the titles more easily. Currently there are 31 albums released by Tape Project (excluding the one digital origin tape). All of them started with the original master tape from which a 1" 15ips 2 track copy is made. The 1" copy is used to make the Tape Project release. a bank of ATR-102's are used for the duplication. Larry

Beautiful stuff. Now you need to convince Paul to re-start the project and release more tapes!

David, I had lunch with Paul a couple of months ago. He is on semi retirement - hopefully will continue to do some new tapes. Larry
