Anyone heard or owned the ML No. 335 amp? I would appreciate any and all comments.

mep - I own a quite similar amp, the No. 333 - exceeding my expectations day after day in my system - not as dynamic and fleshed-out as the Anthileon, but ranking it as one of the best SS I have had, great control, extension and midrange magic.

I had a 27.5 predecessor to the 333. They are great amps....a bit on the darker side tone wise. There is no factory service for these amps however. Harman abandoned the Madrigal Labs Levinsons when they purchased the ML name.

Now that wasn't cool at all. There is still the Mark Levinson brand, but the company that owns them has written off a bunch of Mark Levinson owners??

Hey Mark

Yup, Harman Intl gave us madrigal lab guys the big FU. Solely a Profit, not customer driven organization. They own Studer too...I wonder if that is why no more Studer RTR parts/service ?

An argument could be made that when Mark Levinson was shown the door that the brand actually improved and made better products and I believe they had a good reputation for customer service. If it is true that Harmon refuses to service Mark Levinson gear that came out before they bought the company, that is borderline criminal. Amir should jump in here and tell us what he thinks since he is a dealer for Levinson.

aren't the new Levinson's power amps switching designs as opposed to the linear output stage designs of yester year ? I was under the impression that swirching designs were/are inferior...the cheap way out so to speak.

Well, that will open up a whole new can of worms and hurt feelings. There are people who love the new switching amps and more (I think) that wouldn’t touch them with the proverbial ten foot pole. Some people think the “Ice” module name was apropos because of their cold sound.

I guess the bottom line here is that I shouldn't even consider an ML amp because they can't be serviced anymore unless they are current production under Harmon.

I don't know what others impressions were but I thought Harley's review in TAS and considering the amps price and his enthusiasm for other Levinson products, wasn't a ringing endorsement. Or at least what he thought were problems were deal breakers with me.

The support we get from Harman is the best of our manufacturers. On older products, they refer you to a third-party which specializes in fixing them. If you have issues, send me PM and I will see if I can intervene to get help. I know they are willing to take care of customers.

Great milestone Steve, congratulations again for your iniciative, willingness and passion starting this project with amir.

+100,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
